There wasn’t much to look forward to here.

Sure, the food was fantastic and the amenities were beyond what she could ever imagine.

But each day that passed, the closer Death loomed.

He made a habit of watching her at all times. In the dining hall, when she wield a weapon in her hands, and even when she lay her head to rest. He was there.

Watching.

Waiting.

Leonora did her best to ignore him, but he was like an itch she couldn’t seem to scratch. The best she could do was distract herself with useless skills that she was subpar at best. They told her she needed to excel in something, to find her niche, if she wanted any chance at survival. But everything she dared to touch-

She was nothing better than average.

At this point, she had exhausted all of her options at the weapons stations. She was okay at all of them in the sense she was able to hold them properly. But actually hit a moving human being? Debatable.

Today, Leonora decided to try her hand at something less traditional. If she wasn’t able to fight well enough, she needed to try and find something else she could excel at that would help her survive.

There was a boy at the trapping station, tinkering with some tools and metal scraps. What he was actually doing? Her guess was as good as any as to what he was actually doing, but there were no trainers at this station. So, if she wanted to learn, he was her best bet.

”It really seems like you know what you’re doing, huh?” she said as she approached him. ”And what is that exactly?”

Leonora had a feeling this wasn’t going to be her niche either.

But the least she could do was try.
