It's exhausting, spending time in the Capitol trying to find his way, and it's in these moments that Vallen knows a break is needed even if it's just for lunch. Of course, it feels like everyone goes together for these. Not that they have any choice, but it's still one of those moments of sweet relief. It's hard playing a part, doing what they tell him to do, yet he always does his own thing. Training isn't for him. Why bother since he knows he's likely going to die anyway. Instead, he wants to focus on his true passion, and nothing will ever take that away from him.
But as he places a variety of food on his plate, he realizes he misses home a lot more than he ever imagined. Every thought turns to his mother and father, and the last thing they said before leaving for the reaping still echoes through his mind, and it's torturing his soul. The only way to make up for it is to win, and if they knew he hasn't been training, Vallen is certain they would yell at him. Everyone only has one life, and while he's living his, there's so much more to it. Making it out of the arena alive would become a blessing since it would give him the chance to make things up to his family.
I'm certainly going to die though.
Looking around, he slowly moves from one side of the dining hall to the other, and he finds a seat that isn't occupied, but it's next to another tribute. A lump forms in the back of his throat, and all he wants is to run away and find a place to devour this food himself without anyone even bothering him.
But I need some friends.
A heavy sigh leaves his chest before he moves over towards the tribute. Communication doesn't come easy for him, and his mind is begging him to simply run away and leave this all behind. Death is coming for him anyway, so why should he try to make friends? The idea of getting back to his family rings true, and right now, all he can do is try his best even if it means doing things that are super uncomfortable.
"May I sit here?"
His voice is quiet, and he looks around anxiously wondering if he's going to be told no, and then he wishes he wouldn't have even asked, but he's getting too far ahead of himself. Remaining quiet and calm can work wonders sometimes, yet he wishes he would've learned helpful communication skills instead of building robots. Maybe then all of this would be easy.
