Stations were vitally important in the training center. I knew that, and realistically, I also knew that there were some stations that people simply wouldn't be good at. For me, that seemed to be the hand-to-hand combat station. It just wasn't my thing. I hadn't quite perfected how to throw a punch. Maybe I'd learn in the arena itself if it came down to it, but that was really to be seen.
Time in the training center was nearing an end, and I honestly had hit most of the stations that I wanted to, so it really only left re-visiting the ones I thought were most important. I figured that the first aid station was a rather important one, since I was bound to get wounded in the arena at some point, so I made my way over there.
There was only one other tribute there, from District Nine. I was pretty sure her name was Leo-something, but I couldn't place the full name. Leora? Leona? Something like that. Since I couldn't quite think of it, though, I just called her 'Leo' as I approached and hoped that was acceptable and not like, some forbidden nickname in her world. Surely she'd correct me if she hated it, right?
"Hey, Leo, right?" I greeted her with an extended hand. "I'm Quentin Quinn, from District Six." I pointed to the '6' embroidered on the sleeve of my shirt as I mentioned my District.
I started picking up some supplies from the table, including a piece of some sort of material that was meant to mimic human flesh so as to allow us to practice patching it up. It had a deep gash down one part of it, and I began stitching it back together in the way that one of the trainers had shown me how a few days prior. I looked up from my work to signal to Leo-whatever that I was still there for conversation and wasn't ignoring her.
"So, you got this first aid thing down yet?" I asked her in an attempt to get a real conversation going. I wasn't sure where I was going with this conversation, other than maybe trying to get on the good side of as many tributes as possible, but I decided to give it a shot.
