The fungal grove wasn't the least appealing part of the arena I'd been to so far. For one, it smelled of decay, and the mushrooms all around weren't as visually appealing as even the canopy cover of trees in the first forest I'd ventured into earlier. It wasn't all that pretty during the day. As the night began to fall, however many of the mushrooms began to glow in bioluminescent colors, and I actually didn't mind it. It didn't look half bad.

I ventured from the path a little ways, telling my alliance I'd be right back, and that I was just scoping things out. After a moment or so, I saw movement, and I had a feeling it was another tribute. This area wasn't thriving with wildlife like the green forest of tall trees from before. As I'd said: it reeked of decay here.

I took a few more steps, and saw that I was right. Not only was it another tribute, though, it was my district partner. The other kid from Six, Caspian Einfallen. He certainly had at least one dead relative that'd been in the Hunger Games before, although I couldn't say I knew his exact relation to them.

"Thought I was gonna hear your cannon earlier," I commented as I cautiously approached. "Change of plans?"

Sapphire wings in the sky, Caspian can feel the decay rushing past his face as spores burns in the air. The taste of death upon his lips as the desire to escape the guilty conscious of his own hands; blood spilled upon roots of green and purple. A mixture of a pain echoing through his chest. The roots fade away from the green and purple to just a purple where death resides. The win billowing out his outfit as he feels his hands rest against the neck of the beast carrying him. A sigh of relief to being in his own presence where he can feel the pressure, the pain, and the confusion of his own actions. No one was meant to be a killer, but the path was chosen for him. Blood spilt in hesitated moments mixing with the barrage of his own head.

The eerie glow of mushroom's bioluminescence beginning to rise in the evening's light. A sign of the light that comes through the dark; blistering through with a comfort of both death and life. A dance of a creation trapped between both death and life. As the sapphire wings beat, Caspian watches the spores swirl before he steps off his new pal. Fingers ruffling feathers with a scritch of nails; messing up the smooth feathers. There's a pause as he feels his heart beating knowing he's alone. Alone and armed, but alone nonetheless. Fingers tightening around the fungal blade, covered in the same rot between life and death. Cold iron glimmering in the light as he looks up after hearing someone approaching.

Should he strike first? It's the games. Anyone would want to kill him here. Right? Only, there's a moment when he notices the younger district partner of his. Quentin. There's a glance for a second before Caspian let's himself relax his shoulders and the words slipping from the other's lips makes him feel cold. Cold in a way that his mind continues to poison his own mind; only Caspian shrugs instead. Arms crossed as he lets out a breath before responding back to his district partner, voice caught in his throat as his heart beats in time.

"Y-Yeah." His eyes looking forward, empty and tired. "I-I hesitated. Someone-" Cutting off his own words, he looks down for a second before continuing. "D-Doesn't matter. How are you? I uh... I'm glad you made it."
