Anthem - Day 8

Olete, Olete, Olete -

Astrid grits her teeth, haunted. Final four. Two girls from above and two boys from below. Torian, perhaps, she could continue the legacy of the young ones beating all odds. Krueger was, all pun intended, a gamble and a half she wasn't sure she should take - but when had Astid ever turned down something destined for disaster? Larissa Le Roux, finally Astrid could do what none had done in years and bring one of the lions back home. Or Perry Gauthier with that surname, a strange twist of fate as Lorraine falls over the bridge in her memory.

She knows what the Capitol would prefer. And yet --

and yet.

Anything was better than Olete Bene, who refused to die - even in death.

Three slain, three left standing in your way. So many dead. The blight has crept into your chest and nestled against your very being - at least, that's what you tell yourself when the dead say goodnight and you're left with blood on your hands. Anything to get some sleep, right?

Sleep, if any, comes in fits. The blight has seemed to infect your subsconsious, nightmares shaking you awake to the beautiful dark. The plants and fauna around you seem to glow, filled to the brim with magical energy. You're sure there are terrible things lurking just over yonder. And despite the oath you took before you stepped foot in this arena to swear yourself to the courts, you cannot shake the feeling that no-one will come to your aid - not even if you beg.

So who will you fight for, little tribute? If not for yourself? After all - you're all alone in this place. Aren't you?

CLIMATE.

The arena has been voided of all warmth. A terrible, cutting wind sneaks through the trees, the meadows, the cliffs, along the surface of waters that ripple and froth. Above is clouded with grey skies, threatening to downpour and catch you a terrible chill. In the coldest corners of the arena you may even see your laboured breath on the air. The only thing left warm in this place is the  blood pumps through your veins - but for how much longer?
