9th Hunger Games Pre-Games Activities

Changes between the 1st and 8th Retro Games have been noticeable for all of us as members. However, with the Hunger Games becoming a mainstay in Panem, tributes are beginning to develop their own "fifteen minutes of fame" celebrity status. The Pre-Games events below will help demonstrate this and hopefully aid you in writing this experience for your tribute! All Pre-Games activities are optional to write and are designed to give a clear itinerary for the tributes.

TRAIN RIDES

After being reaped, tributes will be transported into the Capitol via train after a brief wait in the Justice Building. The trip occurs overnight, meaning tributes will spend at least one night on the train. During their time on the train, they will be permitted to interact with each other and, if available, the previous winners from their districts. As a note, tributes will not be given any food during their train ride, but water (and wine) is readily available.

EXITING THE TRAIN

Normally, once tributes make it to the Capitol, they are quickly and efficiently ushered to the safety of their rooms. However, for this Games, due to its sensationalized nature, tributes will find themselves bombarded with members of the Capitol press and citizens eager to get a first look at the tributes in the flesh. The crowd will have mixed emotions and reactions to the tributes. Seeing this as an issue, "Warden" and Head of Security, Jovis Azzaro ( MATTIO ) has ordered security to detain members of the public who attempt to harm or contact the tributes physically. Likewise, guards will prevent tributes from physically engaging with the public. Tributes (and their district partner if they so choose) are free to speak with the crowd as they're moved to their rooms.

JACK-AND-JILL ROOMS

Tributes are brought to a top-secret location to stay in. In a new change, they will be given a his-and-hers-and-theirs space that includes two private bedrooms, a shared bathroom, and a common area. Cameras are present in the space to ensure the tributes do not fight one another before the Games begin. Attempting to escape or harm their district partner will result in a tribute getting handcuffed in their private room.

INTERVIEWS

Tributes spend Reaping night and the following morning in their rooms. During the second evening, tributes will be escorted out of their rooms and onto an interview stage on the ground floor of the building to have a one-on-one interview with Harlan Godfrey ( dars . ) The crowd is still relatively intimate, with only the Capitol's wealthiest, or those willing to go broke to see the tributes, getting a seat. The interviews are broadcast across Panem, which would be expected by tributes after the 8th Games's public interviews.

Once the interviews are over, tributes who behave themselves will be given a warm bread roll for dinner. Those who weren't well behaved will get nothing.

IMMEDIATE PRE-GAMES

After their interviews, tributes will be escorted back to their rooms for the night. Early the next morning, they will be awoken and transported to the actual arena via hovercraft. Tributes will be welcome to interact with each other during transit, though it should be noted that all tributes will be strapped to their seats and not allowed to get out. Again, they will still not be given any food. Tributes will get dressed below the arena, immediately before rising into the games. They can either do this by themselves or with the aid of Games officials/peacekeepers.

Faint drips of water leak through tiny holes and tears in the floor. Tributes are brought up from the catacomb of the arena and ushered in through the four corners. For logistical purposes, each of these corners will represent a different one of the four mandates.
