violent visions of hands flying in the air still haunt him to this day. the lifeless body of marrow still looking at him like she had life in her still. the color draining out of prisma's skin as he brought the blade down on her. vera falling to the ground as her arm went flying in the air. bambam going limp as his sword lopped her leg clean off her body.
it all replays in his mind as he tries to make sense of it all. moments flash before his closed eyes before he is finally jolted up by a peacekeeper. he doesnt understand why he needs to have his own detail assigned to him. it was clear to everyone that he was a killer, and that he was unhinged as is. they gave him a smug look as he stood up from the chair he had dozed off in. it was time to leave for the capitol. he knew that much. terra hadnt been too far behind him as they walked to the train station. it had been a while since he had seen terra, and to be quite honest, he wished they didnt have to be forced together in moments like this.
at least they had each other to lean on.
when they walked onto the train car, marcus realized that they had slightly upgraded it from the last time he was on it. just to think, a year has passed, but things change drastically. he takes a seat at the upholstered chair that they placed in the car, wondering if they upgraded the car because of marcus's win. whatever the reason was, marcus crossed his arms and looked away from the peacekeepers, his eyes on terra and the window looking out at the landscape.
he didnt trust many people.
thats when they brought in the tributes that had been reaped. marcus didnt even bat an eyelash at either of them. he let out a small sigh, realizing that it was like staring in a mirror. he looked at terra, "are you seeing what i am seeing?" he says, knowing that terra might need a second to communicate back to him what she was thinking. she didnt need to say a word for him to understand what she was getting at anyway.
"this is like deja vu." he says to the tributes before feeling the train move below them. now they were stuck with each other for what felt like another eternity.
far too long in marcus's opinion.
