Today was a Tuesday, chemistry was your first class on a Tuesday. Then followed math, history, and English. Afterwards you would make your way to the library where you would meet up with Maren and burry your blond heads in books until the librarian would shut off the lights.
That is what you did every Tuesday since you were twelve years old. Every day was always planned down to the minute, filled with classes, work or taking care of your mother. There was never any time to think about what you could possibly do next because it was so abundantly clear. You had no real schedule here in the Captiol, sure there were events that needed to be attended and you needed to train, but the possibilities seemed endless that you struggled with a decision.
Each morning since arriving in the capitol, you had tried to write out a plan for the day. Create a bit of structure so that would not completely loose your mind, attempt to cover all your grounds so you could find out what you were good at and what you would best leave up to those you had aligned. Unfortunately, the training academy was not school, and it was not quite possible for you to be good at everything; you could hardly shoot an arrow straight, your starved body would not stand a chance in hand-to-hand combat, and you possessed none of the charm and elegance that the upper district tributes did.
Flynn’s words from the corridor the previous day echo in your mind.
”We’re on opposite sides now. I trust Avriel will look after you”
Community had always been important to you, but it was you that was used to helping others. Not the other way around, if anything asking for help was one thing you dreaded most. It was finally time to accept the fact that you could not figure out everything by yourself. Your mind will only get you so far, it was time to rely on the resources around you. So, this morning as you sat down at the breakfast table, instead of jotting down your daily plan on your palm, you confronted your fear of asking for help.
”I need help”, you stated without warning as you sat yourself down across from Avriel.
”There is nothing I hate more than to admit that I don’t know what I am doing…but…but I don’t. What do I need to do in order to win this thing?” you pleaded with desperation in your eyes as you tried your best to swallow your pride.
