As the horrific mutt falls, I grab the axes I threw and decide it is best to leave the roof and find somewhere else to hide. I stay close to the wall, though, afraid of what may show its face. I have to make sure that all my basis are covered. It's the best thing I can possibly do at the moment. I take a deep breath and hide in the shadows to the best of my ability hoping the face paint will keep me hidden for even a moment longer. I don't know what to really expect anymore, but once I'm indoors, I run to the elevator with my hand tightly around an axe. I never know when I'll need to throw it.

Thankfully the elevator is unoccupied, and I take it down to the training room. There's all sorts of stuff here, and I know I need to be careful because someone could be lurking in the shadows. I've wanted to take the opportunity to explore this more, and all I can do is just move around, but as I turn towards one of the holo lessons, I hear something coming from somewhere, and I can't help but jump slightly. I look around, and I hear the noise again, and I take the axe that's in my hand and throw it in the direction of the sound and watch it bounce off the wall, and I grab another.

I needed a breather.

I was still processing everything that had happened this morning, and as I stepped onto the elevator, I became very much aware that I could be making the biggest mistake of my life. It was naive of me to think that it would have been safe enough for me to leave behind Jimmy and the others as they tore apart the medical wing in search of supplies. I had mentioned to Jimmy that I was going to check the rooms across from the Medical wing; however, I had neglected to mention that I was going to a whole different floor.

"You're a damned idiot," I mumble to myself as the doors slide open, and the training room comes into view. "So damned stupid." Stepping out of the elevator, I keep to the wall, looking over my shoulder. I was so focused on what was behind me that I neglected to look in front, and my foot collides with a bucket filled with knives. The bucket goes flying, and my heart is in my throat. "Oh no, oh no, oh-"

An axe comes flying at my head, burying itself into the wall half an inch from my face.

"WHAT IN SWEET HELL WAS THAT!" I bellow as I jump out from behind the weapons stand, my own axe clutched tightly in my hand. "You could have killed me!" I cry, trying to remind my lungs how to breathe. "Like, actually killed me. Dead." The white-haired boy from Twelve steps out in front of me, Marik, and with my axe, I shove my hands into his shoulder, pushing him to the side. The adrenaline from earlier resurfaces as my body insists that I take the fight path of the fight-or-flight response.

And once again, the uneasiness that had made me sick to the stomach washes over me. "Do you really understand what that means?" a question more for myself than for Marik.

"I'll find something to clean it with."

I breathe a sigh of relief, but at the same, I can't help but feel bad for a moment. I just about killed her, and she's the closest thing to an ally that I have here. I know it's nothing fancy, but it's still something that can assist me in getting further in the game. All I can do at the moment is try to remain calm. "You could have killed me."

I look at the ground. "I didn't know it was you, Nessa. Sheesh, what is with you Garners. Giving my headaches." I hesitate a moment before speaking up again. "What would you have done if you were in my shoes?" Maybe I shouldn't have asked this question, and I know I should pay better attention. I'm just having a hard time focusing because I can't find anything that I need. And then she's getting sick, and in that moment, I'm unsure of what to do. Nessa says she's grab something to clean, and I kinda shake my head. "Uh, here let me help you find something." I want to take this time to keep searching for things, but I know that I'll have to come back soon.

"I didn't know it was you, Nessa!" Marik's eyes on the ground, looking guilty as hell, and instantly I find myself pitying him. My already uneasy stomach squeezes uncomfortably as my face softens, and my shoulders relax. "Sheesh, what is with you, Garners," I look at him with confusion, tilting my head to the side. He must have met Jimmy at some point in here, before all hell had broken loose, and I had no doubt that my cousin had run his tongue and spewed some nasty little words at the boy that would have cut like knives.

Jimmy had given me a few headaches over the years too, but he was family, and he was all I had left to cling onto, so I find myself defending my cousin. "Hey, watch it!" I warn, my hands on my hips in a way that reminded me of my mother when she scolded me and my sister for picking on Flynn.

Letting it go, Marik hesitates before he speaks, "What would you have done if you were in my shoes?" I wanted, no, I needed, to believe that I would have run, because the alternative was just too much for me to handle at the moment. But if today was proof of anything, I would have done exactly what Marik had.

"Just be more careful in the future, okay?" I say instead, avoiding telling him that he was right.
