You mummer some words of approval as Arcadia mentions something along the lines of finding Jack.
Sure. Why not.
Both of already had a silent agreement declaring an independent dependency on each other. You could go your separate ways for a while, but you would always find your way back because at the end of the night you had each other’s backs.
You slowly begin to work on the open wound on your chest, the same spot Jimmy had stabbed you in only two days prior. This time you do not even wince once as you pull the needle carefully between your skin. Fuck you Jimmy Garner, you could totally stitch up a wound! The silence as you sat on your own started to haunt your mind. Flashes of the fight appeared before your eyes as you carefully pulled the grain from your hair. All of it was so sudden, it felt so distant yet like from another life. The rapid change from sheer violence to blissful nothing was confusing at best and infuriating at worst.
A longing for someone else grew stronger in your wounded chest. You were always one to be surrounded by people, you thrived off of the presence of others and wilted in solitude. You wanted to have what Arcadia had with Jack or hell even what she had with Vin. More importantly you wanted exactly what Vin had, between the disgust and resentment you still could not fathom why you wanted Roe.
Did the why matter? Of course, it did, the why always mattered to you but maybe if you could just talk to him then you could figure it out together. Right?
…Right?
Lost in trance of your own emotional battle you found your way up to the district twelve quarters and were greet with the most horrendous dim lighting, the exact opposite to the artificial lights that plagued your quarters. You kicked the gravel at your feet as your footsteps echoed through the room, you carefully dragged your bat behind you leaving a trail of dust in place of your shadow.
There he lied.
In his bed sleeping like a rock, the fight must have really drained him of whatever spunk he had. It was obvious to your semi professionally trained eyes that the poison that coated Maia’s blade had gotten to him. You could help him; you could probably fix him! Whether either of you liked it or not, you were two sides to the same coin. The same evil haunted your souls and both your hands had spilled blood not that long ago.
You climbed into bed, laying yourself next to him your bloodstained bat functioning as a barrier between the two of you, letting out a sigh as you stared at his ghastly pale skin. You were always one to take care of your own and Roe belonged to that group now.
”Wakey wakey, sweetheart” you cooed softly. ”Do you trust me? I promise I can make you feel better if you let me. I know a thing or two about poison” hell at this point you could probably even poison poison.
