Name: Marina "Mara" Sedna
Age: 17
Gender: Female
District/Area: Four Career
Appearance:
Mara stands at five foot seven inches tall, having the body of a lean career she may not look like a typical career, tending to be more feminine then brute force. She has long blonde hair that goes past the mid part of her back, and green eyes. Thin lips and a natural beauty, untouched by makeup instead enjoying what life gave her. As she has aged she has matured nicely in most areas. She may never stand out as the most beautiful woman in Panem, or Four but she can hold her own when the need arises.
Clothing wise she changes with the tide, when shes training she has no problem wearing jeans and a t shirt while at the center, or out with friends when in the district. For special occasions she can often be seen wearing simple and dresses from the market. Her most well-known outfits however are when she is at the beach, where she is often seen in more casual wear, such as bathing suits and flip flops, jeans or other comfort wear that she enjoys. By far seemingly more relaxed when shes at or near the water.
Personality:
Unlike most careers, Mara is the type of girl who seems to follow the beat of her own drum, rather than those who have come before her. Easy going and kind, she seeks out those who she can bond with and make friendships that could last a lifetime. Feeling as though fame is not worth it if you have to pretend to be someone you are not. That fame and glory that is earned because you look pretty and say the "right things" is not worth it.
Never the first in or last out, she is more a go with the flow type of career. Often times training only the required amount of time in the center before she leaves for the day. A lover of nature, she finds herself there more often than not, usually with friends for a bonfire or a quiet training session, she is someone who enjoys the company of others and having fun. Not wanting to worry about the games, or the possibilities of killing a male that she may have gotten to know over the years.
Outside of being a career, she enjoys swimming in the water around District Four, she enjoys a good romance movie/show or book at times. Not afraid to have fun, she tends to find her way to any parties that are thrown on the beach, willing to break bread and laugh by the campfire with anyone who shows up.
Not afraid to make her own path, she has no issues calling people out who pretend to be someone else, or bullies that pick on others inside and outside the center, not afraid to speak up it has gotten her into trouble and fights more than once when she has punched someone in the face as hard as she can, and not caring if someone sees it happen. Protective over those who she cares about, the lover quickly disappears when she has to defend herself or her friends.
Outside of that she is never to serious and often times not one who cares if she is picked for the games or not, knowing that likely others will go before her and she will age out. She is fine with letting the tides decide if she will wake up on the shores of District Four, or if she will end up battling to survive.

History:
Mara is the second child of Reef and Coral Sedna, she is the youngest of the family and in her youth was babied by her parents, who hoped neither of their children would enter the games. Like most of those in Four she would dream of one day entering the games and becoming a victor, that she would have the chance to etch her name into the history books. At a young age blinded by the spectacle of the games she would spend her youth training with her sister to one day become a tribute. In the years that followed she would grow into a bright young girl, who seemed to have it all going for her.
Her family would be a tight knit group who did everything that they could to make sure that their daughters were close, in hopes that they would continue the tradition that came with being the keepers of the lighthouse, and often the ones who would meet the dead with the families after the games. Or on bad years, the only ones who welcomed the dead. Taught from a young age to be respectful and gentle natured, she quickly would gain friends, rather than pushing for a competition she instead would focus on bonds that showed with each passing year.
Her bond with her sister seemed to be what would set their own paths, Kailani would decide that she wanted to do something different than train and moved away from the career training when she realized that she would not be picked as a tribute, or the one who could volunteer, so she worked alone with her sister instead, the two pushing one another and training to see if she could do better with time. As the years passed, Kailani would take over meeting the dead when they came home from the games from her parents, and meeting tributes families if they so wished.
As the days have gotten closer to when she herself maybe ready to volunteer, Mara has found her peace with the world, not happy when she sees how people are changed, or at times seemed that they read from a card. In her own way she has decided to step into a more fluid, and personal method in her training, often times on the beach, or by the water where she is at peace, either with her sister, her friends, or even by herself where she can be found there more often than not. Realizing that the games are often won not inside the controlled environment of a center, but where one has to survive she has started to focus more on that.
In the end rolling with the tides.
