Ratmas Dead Tribute Tourney [Sign-Up’s]

There is no sky in the afterlife.

At least, not the one they have suddenly found themselves in. Or maybe it was something else entirely, an in-between of sorts. Where they were before, sprawling in pastures, floating in white space, burning for eternity or simply ceasing to exist altogether, none of it matters now. Cavernous walls stretch up, up, up for thousands of feet before disappearing into the same darkness that swallows the endless expanse below. The tributes stand in a bowl made of purple-gray stone, suspended in the air and surrounded on all sides by hundreds of feet of open space. Built into the edges of this underground arena are viewing boxes, ghoulish demons and cackling witches with glowing, peering eyes as they watch the tributes return. The entire space is lit by purple-flamed torches on the walls above, giving some semblance of a night's light.

At first, the tributes are only specters: flickering forms of who they once were. Like lights that hadn't been switched on for a very long time, their presences will each slowly stabilize. They'll watch in real time as their arms are once again built from bone and blood and flesh, re-raveling what previously had been irrevocably unraveled from time. But once their forms are finished, they'll see more coming to shape around them: clothes that were never theirs, but those of an arena's. Scars from a fight they never stood a chance of winning. Weapons they weren't strong enough killers with in the end glinting in the lavender light.

"None of you," a growling low voice echoes through the chamber like a clap of thunder, "had what it took to be a champion in life." The voice seems to be without source, coming from everywhere and nowhere all at once. Perhaps, even, it came from inside their own heads. "But right now, you'll have the chance to redeem yourself. At least to some degree. One of you will become Champion of the Afterlife."

Merry Ratmas! In preparation for graphics team day, today we will be posting sign-ups for a fun, light-hearted, blitz-length tournament, which will take place beginning the 29th of December! Some notes regarding this event:

- This event is purely Just For Fun.
- In order for a character to participate, they must have already been reaped and died in a hunger games hosted here on hungergamesrpg
- Members may sign up as many of their tributes as they would like, but they will only be chosen to write 1
- Members who have written several tributes and would like to submit some of theirs for writers who want to participate but have not ever been in a games on the site may do so
- Blitz-length posts are all that is required. If you would like to write more, please discuss with your writing partner before doing so, and be aware of time!
- Brackets will be determined based on sign-ups
- This tournament will be 1v1 based, (or 1v1v1 if there's an odd number of participants)
- This tournament will be single-elimination (one loss=you're done)
- Tributes will have 20 HP rather than 40. This is to help with time and because they are dead. lol.
- Weapons will be pre-determined based on which round of fights we are on.

Prizes!

- Participating: 5 house points
- 3rd/4th Place: 10 house points and 5k site money
- 2nd Place: 15 house points and 1 cb
- 1st place: 20 house points, 1 cb, and "Ruler/King/Queen of the Underworld" custom title
