Georgia Tallis seemed like the kind of woman that I wanted to be.
It took me more than multiple tries to come up with the courage to approach her. There was a panel where she talked, and I had listened as if it were my religion. Something about the way she held herself put me in trance of longing. Longing to be what she was, respected. Creation after creation, each of them with their own faults and yet my only goal was for someone to look at me and say yes.
She must have started from somewhere.
Maybe she would be able to push me in the right direction. Or maybe it was mindless to think she would give me her time. Well, hey, I was never known to be a subtle person. Never one to not chase after an opportunity and this science fair has been my biggest break yet. Even if my stall was small and the visitors were few, I had an audience.
Now I just needed to get myself an audience with Georgia Tallis.
On my fourth or maybe it was my fifth attempt, possible even my sixth. Actually, I have no clue what attempt it was, but it was then one I saw through.
”Excuse me, Ms. Tallis.”, my voice filled with more confidence than I actually had. Still, I put on a smile and did my best not to fall into my usual rambling mess.
”Hi, I’m Soleil, I’m from here well uh district three. I saw your presentation and I know of your work. You see I plan on becoming Panem’s foremost expert in explosives one day and I know there must have been some of that in your arena design. Well, I was just wondering if would take the time and maybe help another girl start in the right direction? I promise I’m worth your time.” I end my speech with a certain and firm smile hoping she would not send me kicking and screaming to the curb.

all that is left for me is the tinnitus
