And finally it was over. Not that Astrid felt any particular way about, as Mad Dog so eloquently put it, killing children. But she was exhausted, physically; and bored out of her goddamn mind. That was the price to pay for being Astrid: her attention so easily stolen - save for Hades, her one exception.

The Games had captivated her for a time being, that terrible rot inside of her unleashed for all to see once again. Wasteland, noxious gas, the blighted roots that poisoned the arena from the inside-out. It had left her; and her shell craved more. Something else to fill it. Torian would be her shiny new thing as Flynn Garner had once been; though the latter and their strange relationship still caught her curiosity on the rare occasion she saw him. A drink or three didn't satiate her quite as it did Mad Dog. 

She'd expected this from him. Half-drunken stupour, he didn't even have to play the part that she had picked for him: and that was exactly why he had been chosen. Where Lily was a roll of the dice, Maddox was as viscious as his name. He worked hard and played harder, finding one in the same. So she let him slog his arm over her, ignored his yeasted breath, wiped the drops of his drink from her glittered arms as she scanned the crowd for Hades to no avail. He'd earned this celebration, had he not? Hadn't she? 

"You did well," was all Astrid said from the rim of her own drink's glass. Dark purple, on theme - how predictable. Her brain screamed, boredorm rattling between her ears. Hades was so much better at this than she was. She nodded to Lily as well, hoping her eyes weren't as jaded as her heart. "Both of you."
