“Welcome and thank you for joining me today, District Six! Six has always been my home. I have represented Six in the Games. I have chosen to bring up a daughter in Six. Five years ago, I chose to lead this District. Somedays, it may seem difficult, but I will always be proud of Six. We have gone through a lot in the past five years, and it may not seem like it, but we have improved so much too, and we can keep pushing.
Together we have come out of the other side of the Rose Plague, hospitals are now starting to see fewer cases and we’re back to business as usual! We have also seen the improved expenditure of our teaching hospitals, with funding from the Capitol. Blessing Fenwick’s Hospital has proven to be the most desirable place for future medical professionals to learn. Not only do our own citizens benefit from the new and innovative teaching hospital but we have welcomed many from other Districts through its doors. District Six has become one of the most attractive places to relocate in Panem, especially for those wanting to improve their education.
While it seems like our lives are dictated by how well our tributes do in the games, I am going to make a promise that with a reformed District Six council, our tributes will get better support every year in the games. We are no career District but we have so many resources at our disposal and sponsors are always attracted to our tributes. We have two victors who WILL fulfill their role as mentors with a new reformed system for them to follow everywhere. No District Six victor will slack in their mentorship role, and I will promise you that they will do their very best to finally bring one home in this decade!
Work and The Hunger Games may dictate our lives but another promise that I will bring into my new term is that will be working to improve the work-life balance in our District. I have listened to you all and your struggles with the culture in this District. We all work tirelessly to innovate but we must also look after ourselves! I will be opening leisure centers in the District, that will include health and fitness spas. So, while you have been working your brain hard in a laboratory or at university, you can relax inside a jacuzzi or beside a pool with a mocktail! I will also be opening more addiction services for those who want help with any struggles you may have. Morphling use is on the rise, and we must tackle it!
The science fair was much loved, despite the plague’s disruption and the fair in District Three has proven a hit too! I am announcing today that we will now be running an annual science fair in the District so that citizens can continuously showcase their innovative work!
We may sometimes be overlooked by the Capitol; seen as its work horse that it can keep whipping but we all must carry ourselves with some pride. If not for us, there would be no Panem. The Rose Plague would have brought all of the Districts to their knees without the innovative brains that have been born and brought up in this District. It Is time that we start to celebrate the work that we do, and the Capitol will then repay that favor. If you vote for me for another term as Mayor, my focus will be on improving culture and the Capitol’s favor of the District. While maintaining the improved education system and economy that we have all worked together to achieve! I will also be putting extra available funding into improving the peacekeeping system in the District, something that I admit I have been slacking on.
I am not just making these promises just to get your votes, I have a daughter who lives here, a future that I must protect, along with all of yours! Thank you!”
Parson can finally breathe, he didn’t even read all of that from a script. He definitely feels big headed now as he watches the crowd react to his sign off. Speaking so formally for so long has made him feel exhausted. He will hit a bar on his way home, just three rounds of beers to celebrate.
