I gently tapped my knife against the champagne flute, silencing the crowded studio. ”Thank you all for coming tonight as we celebrate the official kickoff of my campaign for high council.” my guests began to clap as my younger brother called out my praise in a form on an ironic joke and laughter flooded the room.
”Now now, you must excuse my brother he must have had a little too much to drink. Please I hope you will join him as the night progresses, this is in every right a reason to celebrate. When I first brought up the idea of my candidacy, he was the first person to believe in my cause. A cause my family has stood for since the dark days. Strength in the rule of the Capitol, strength in tradition, strength in the media. Our greatest tool is the control of perception, ensuring that the districts see what we want them to see. Broadcast everything, they need to know, ensure their perception of reality is what is best for our great nation.”
Another round of applause as I stood tall with an inviting smile on my face.
”Of course I would assume even amongst those closest to me there were questions why I saw myself fit to run for this election. Trust me, I still ask myself that.” I joked loosening my demeanor.”My platform means the world to me, it has become a space where those of high standing could come and loosen up a little. My intention was always to address serious topics in a relaxed setting accessible to everyone, to reach every single citizen of Panem when it was of importance. Ensuring that the Capitol’s message would linger in every household, never to be forgotten again for forgetting is the worst thing we could do.”
“But enough about me, this evening is about all of us. Our unity, and I would like to thank a few people who have accompanied me on my journey throughout life making all of this possible. To big with non-other than my mentor, Hendrix Fernwood!” I paused for second allowing Hendrix her applause.
”Hendrix has not only generously donated towards my campaign but has also been a constant voice of support during my career. When things got tough, I knew she was someone I could go to for advice. Without her I would not be standing here on this stage today, so from the bottom of my heart thank you! A huge thank you to all of the staff on my show, you have been phenomenal throughout the years, and I consider myself very lucky to have each and one of you in my life. I promise with my campaign the media will become ever more important for we truly are the voices of the country.
With that, I would dearly invite you to enjoy the night for we have only the best of entertainment the capitol could offer and not mention enough booze for a celebration in style.
