A steady stream of tears pour from his eyes as he does everything in his power to keep the violent sobs racking through his body quiet. Jericho is dead because of him. His spear. It killed him, and the blood that spewed from the gaping hole is caked against his skin, and no matter what Hal does, it doesn't come off, but none of that matters. Vali. She's gone. Her head, it flew from her body in the blink of an eye, and nothing makes sense anymore.
Marceline is gone.
I'm all alone.
The ground, it's cold, and yet his mind is wondering as chills run up and down his spine. What's going to happen?
His eyes are wide as the storm bellows on. Thunder echoes through the sky, and he can't help but wonder how much of it is cannons signaling someone has died. But it doesn't matter.
Everything is crumbling around him. A frantic heart tries escaping from its prison, and Hal isn't sure how to make it relax. I'm a prisoner in my own body. This is a game, a horrible game, and he's now part of it. A pawn. A character, and maybe today he's the main character, or a supporting main. It doesn't matter. Everyone was right, and he was wrong, and maybe it's Lucky'a fault for teaching him how to properly hold a weapon.
I tried to save her.
Getting the image of Vali out of his head is impossible, and with each flash of lightning, he swears her spirit is still standing there. Maybe she's watching over them, or maybe, he's going crazy and seeing things.
Fear plays tricks on people, and right now, the only thing Hal can think of is finding a place to hide.
What if she left me? What if I'm all alone? Is she going to just leave me here to die?
His mind runs rampant as he curls up into his new sleeping bag. Maybe someone will find him. Freezing to death is the fate he deserves.
I am a murderer, and I must pay for my sins.
