Sera finds she does not want to waste too much time observing the competition with an Alliance already established. Still, it was hard not to observe some of the other personalities in the Training Center. One of the girls from District Eight had had a sister in the last Hunger Games. Sera saw the resemblance, and it rubbed her the wrong way that her own siblings were going to be watching her participate in these games on national television, so she was not unsympathetic.

"Hey, yeah you, the one with the nice hair, come spar with me!" Sera picks up one of those large ear stick looking things and attempts to hold herself fiercely even though it is impossible to take seriously.

I pause my reading, and slowly look up from the little book of poisons I've been memorising. I get more right every time.

"Hey, yeah you, the one with the nice hair, come spar with me!"

The one with the nice hair? Well, that can only mean me. I dog ear the page I'm on and leave it down. Who is this kid? She's small, maybe not quite as young as Junie, but definitely on the lower end of the age range. Honestly, I'm not all that pleased to be taken away from my studies (something I've never thought before today), but since she was nice enough to compliment me, I lazily mosey over.

"You know what? Sure. Let's do this."

I grab one of the axes from the rack. The kid's trying hard to look threatening, but I don't match her.

"As long as you leave my hair as is, alright? Someone already took a scissors to it."
