Finally, Bebe is back behind the cashier's desk at her boutique. She had not been prepared for the chaos of the Games. Today was the first day she'd had the chance to stand outside her newly reopened store and appreciate the fresh lick of paint, and the new sign that glittered above the door. It read BBoutique -- pronounced like 'boutique' but with a particularly forceful "buh" sound on the b, something which Bebe had had to explain several times today already. Each time, she corrects her customers with a smile, because no, no, this is not the Bee Boutique; black and yellow horizontal stripes? Please.
Maybe she's alienating that subset of Capitolites that are into the whole bug thing, but that's a risk Bebe's willing to take. Those antennae people have been getting freak her out. She'll happily admit to that. Now, her mini mental breakdown in the middle of preparing for the Games? She's going to take that to her grave.
To be given such a chance, and to come so, so close to fumbling it? What a nightmare. She'd barely scraped her way through, very nearly proving her parents right. She'd come close to considering that lying on her back was her only talent after all. She bets they're still rolling around now, laughing in their graves.
People have questions though. She's a bigshot stylist now, never mind that she's been stuck with the runt district of the tribute litter, so what's she doing here, manning her own shop? It's a fair question, but to be fair to herself, she would've gone straight back to her boutique once her stylist work was done anyways. It was always her plan.
Her name is out there now. Surely there'll be some more influential, curious walk-ins in the coming days and weeks.
"I simply can't sit down," she tells the customers, as she fusses with a display. She's up atop a step ladder, all five foot flat of her perched to redress an extravagant mannequin. "I always have to be doing something! Really, those big watch parties aren't for me."
