everything was a blur. the games felt like it passed in a heartbeat and annie still couldnt get used to the beats. her heart still skipped a few every time she saw someone die on the screen. annie had been a little more invested this time around. both of the tributes had potential, but she had some stake in circe. she really thought she was going to be the first to come home for four in seven games.
she had everything going for her, the capitol loved her, she was ruthless, and she had a backstory. that lineage alone had gotten her all the sponsors. or at least, that is what annie thought. annie was a nobody at the end of the day, and so many years had passed since she had won her games. staring at thirty six this year, she still thought she was lucky to make it out.
twist or not.
however, the end of the games did signify the victory tour, and that meant that she had to host an evening for the current victor from six. she still regretted that it wasnt circe, but there was something about seraphina that seemed balanced. she was not the first person anyone picked, after all, the ones from six had always been deemed the underdogs, even flynn admitted that to annie. seraphina though was allied with circe, and circe made it very clear that she trusted the other.
annie could only think about parson in that moment. to this day, they were still close enough to call each other friends. sure, they were also both mayors, but none of that changed them.
it was a friendship that annie still appreciated.
"this looks perfect, thank you kya." annie said somberly as her hired help for the night had placed the last dish on the table. annie had walked in front of the rather large mirror placed in the living room of her home and straightened out her dress. the creases had been the least of her worries. at the end of the day, the last thing a victor probably cared about was how others looked.
after all, all eyes were on them.
"youre more than welcome to join us kya if youd like, but you are relieved of your duties for now." annie smiled, knowing all too well to always be kind to the help. she had heard stories of victors that mistreated anyone and everyone, and annie would always click her tongue in disappointment.
its not like that got anyone anywhere.
a knock at the door alerted annie, and she walked towards it. she took a deep breath and twisted the knob, seeing the newest victor right in front of her. "welcome to my home." annie said with a small smile before moving out of the way. "i hope you dont mind, i told the rest of your party to show up thirty minutes after you got here." annie said as she waited for seraphina to walk through the door.
"i thought you could use a little privacy after feeling like a goldfish in the worlds tiniest aquarium." annie knew that feeling all too well.
