Part of being a mentor is working with my tributes to make sure they're prepared for the games, and sometimes that means I have to walk through the training center and observe. It's important to see what the other tributes can do so maybe I can help offer more advice even when I can't offer much. Maybe learning strengths and weaknesses can help them. Maybe it can give me a good starting point. I've watched the reaping videos to make sure I can understand them just a bit better. All I've wanted to do is make sure they all have a fighting chance, to survive. Sometimes it feels so easy to be brought down, and I want to do what's best for them.
After spending hours observing, I go back to the district twelve floor. I want to attempt to explain my observations. I think it's a great way to offer assistance, to do whatever I can. I go back into my room and write everything down. Names, strengths, weaknesses, who they talk to, what they're doing most of the time. Some is easy, but for others it seems they want to be left alone and not talk to anyone. Going solo might work out, sometimes it's beneficial. Sometimes it's incredibly helpful when everything else is all said and done. Don't have to worry about allies turning one you.
Once I have all the info I need, I walk out to find my tributes, and I find Umber. A smile spreads across my face as I make my way over to him and sit down across from him. "I have something I'd like to talk to you about." Time is running out, and the games begin soon, so I need to make sure I do everything I can right now. If I can help them in any way, I'll do everything for them. They just have to fight for it. "What are you going to do about allies? If there's no one in mind, going solo can help you too." I fold my hands together and wait hoping I'm not coming across too strong.
