phantom lullaby {kristof day 2}

Kristof watches the knight disappear, but it doesn't do much for him. He hobbles around trying to figure what to do. His body aches, everything crashes down around him, and maybe that's how it's supposed to be. Nothing matters and nothing makes sense. But one thing remains.

I am alone.

His heart races with fear and adrenaline while everything else tries to remain steady. But his hands tremble, he blinks a few times unsure of what to do or where to go from here. I am alive. For now.

A heavy sigh leaves his chest as he goes sits on the edge of the pond. The water feels amazing, and it helps ease the nerves. At least, for now. A smile spreads across his face as he sticks his feet in the water and sits there taking it all in. It cleanses his soul, makes him feel better, but it'll never take away the fear of the world around him right now.

I fail in so many ways.

His family counts on him, and maybe this is the opportunity to fix his name, to prove his worth, or maybe this is all meant to fail. Only time will tell.
