This time I did not look back, but I knew it was behind me…following me into the unknown darkness. It’s footsteps louder than anything else, crushing branches with each step. I knew if I was not careful then it might as well be my head if it so pleases. I would not have enough time to run or hide, not enough reach for my weapon to protect myself. I was truly at its mercy, putting my trust in a creature more stubborn than I was, unable to make up its mind. I too was afraid to choose to follow someone blindly again for where I went it only seemed as if death was close by. First Marcus, now Revel…who knows who would be next.

“I know you are still there” I spoke softly, unsure if it could hear me. It seemed to have ignored almost all my other advances. Why would this one be any different so instead of turning around I just kept walking.
