Okay, this is a story I wrote, and I want you guys to tell me what you think. It's about a girl who discovers her dreams are of the future, and her nightmares... if she doesn't wake up in time, they become reality.
Here's the first chapter.
Dreams of Danger
Here's the first chapter.
Dreams of Danger
She's up in her favorite tree again. My sister, "Girl of the Trees" as I call her. Her laugh sounds close and far away at the same time.
I know this is a dream. I feel lost and happy, like I always do in my dreams.
"Jenny!" I call. "Come down! It's dinner!"
But she's so high up in the pine tree, I doubt she hears me.
"Jenny!" I call again.
She just keeps climbing higher.
I catch I slight movement, suddenly, as if the tree branch her foot was on just vanished. She begins to fall.
"Jenny!" I scream in alarm.
I run towards the pine tree, diesperate to catch her, to save her.
"Silvia!" her voice rings out, as she's just yards away from the ground.
I reach my arms out. Just one more step...
I gasp as my eyes open. Sunlight is pouring through my window, and bouncing off the bright yellow wall.
"Silvia," my mom's voice comes from downstairs. "Hurry up and get breakfast! You're gonna be late for the first day of school!"
I sigh, glad to be here, no longer in my dream.
I get up, finding the outfit I so carefully chose out the night before.
As I run downstairs, I find my plate loaded with pancakes.
"Eat what you can," my mom says.
"Thanks," I say.
She comes over and hugs me.
"Happy forteenth birday!" she says.
Soon, the bus is honking, and I sling my bag over my shoulder.
"See ya!" I call.
The bus is as loud as usual. I sit next to Nicole. Her red hair is as bright as ever, and her brown eyes scan me curriously.
"Hey!" she smiles. "Happy birthday!"
"Thanks!" I say.
I've always evied Nicole. She's always so in style, and her beautiful red hair shines next the my brown hair. And she's my best friend.
"How've you been?" she asks.
"Fine," I say. "I had the worst dream last night though."
"So, ready to get loaded with homework?" she asks teasingly.
"Ugh!" I groan.
Luckily, she's wrong. The first day brings no homework, just a bunch of new info I have to remember, which is even worse.
I wave to her as I get off, and look at the pine tree to see Jenny's reading a book in it.
My stomache tightens.
It was just a dream, I think.
I run to the house, and as I walk in, I smell my birthday dinner- pizza.
I grin.
"What movie?" my mom asks.
"Comedy," I say.
Then I go up to my bedroom, climb out my window, and sit on the roof, feeling the golden sunshine warm my body.
After I little while, I lower myself.
Jenny's still in the tree.
I go back into my room and go downstairs, through the door and outside.
I watch her for a second.
I turn, and glance back one more time.
Just in time to see the branch break.
I know this is a dream. I feel lost and happy, like I always do in my dreams.
