The position I am in is surprisingly comfortable. I contortion my body in a way I didn't even know was possible. But, I proved myself wrong. I sit, or is it stand, here in the forest. Here, hidden, watching the star-crossed lovers of District 12 sit with each other. How adorable. So adorable, I may even spare one of them to be able to live. Making this decision is one of the hardest I will ever have to make. It may have been easier if I had an alliance. But no, not the girl who looks like a fox. Because I, Tigris Jennings, am alone.
The girl moves, and I am instantly in alert. Should I make my move now, and get the boy out of the way? No. I will stay in the shadows for the remainder of the game. I actually feel gratitude to the coal miners. Without them, there would never be two winners. If I fly under the radar the entire Games until there are only two left, I will automatically be heading home. I smile at the thought of home, but instantly I am back in the arena, watching, waiting, for something to happen. I can feel my stomach grumble. I haven't eaten and days, and I am ready to steal. The boy stands up and searches around for food. Bingo. He brings around some delicious looking berries. I lick my lips. He leaves the area again, and this is when I make my move. Fast and silent, I swipe some berries in one fluid motion and continue to the other side of their camp.
I sit down in an area in which they could never see me. I place the berries in front of me. I have an important decision to make; Eat the berries right away or save some for later? I decide that I might never find food again, so I take a couple of berries and stick them in my mouth. I can feel the deliciousness of the juice as I savor each bite. The berries are so amazing, so irresistible, I take the entire handful and stick it in my mouth. Something doesn't feel right. I look down to my stomach and see a hole. A hole. I don't have time to panic, because instantly, I am dead.
