Training is now open. Feel free to RP with your tributes in the Training Center board in the meantime, and make sure you send the three (and only three!) training stations that you are participating in to Wolf Tears, via PM (do not send them to me.) Please make sure to include your tribute name and district in the PM.
Training this year is a little bit different from last year. Below is the section of the rules regarding Training. Read them!VIII. Training Center/Scores
- The training center will be open for one week to roleplay, which may involve making enemies and alliances.
- You have one week to send in the three training stations you have chosen to participate in AND to send your private training session (not one week for each, one week total)
- You must send your three choices of training station to Wolf Tears before you send your private session.
- In order to do specific tasks in-game, you MUST have completed the necessary training station.
- If there is a legitimate and logical reason for your character to have certain abilities without taking the station, you MUST include these in your PM deciding your stations. The staff member will reply with your accepted and/or denied abilities. If some abilities are denied, you may revise your stations list, as long as it is re-sent before your private session.
- Note that not all stations may be 'exempt' -- that is, certain stations must be taken to obtain their ability.
- No combat stations may be exempt.
- Please refer to this thread for a list of training stations, as well as their uses and which may not be exempt.
- A maximum of one exemption will be allowed per tribute.
[A few people asked for clarification on what it means to exempt a station, so here's a brief explanation.
exemption: immunity from an obligation, rule, requirement, or duty
In this case, that refers to the requirement of taking a station in order to get the benefits. For example, if you exempt the fire-making station, you get to make fires without worrying about he die roll, and you still have your three station slots open. You’re essentially saying that your character already knows how to do something, and doesn’t need to learn it in a training station. However, you must have a valid excuse for why your character should be exempt from a station. Having a fireplace in your house is not a good enough reason to exempt fire-making; having parents who constantly took you out camping as a child and forced you to learn to rough it is a good enough reason.]
And, without further delay, the list of Stations and their benefits. Choose wisely! (stations marked with a red x cannot be 'exempt.')Blades – knives, swords, etc (+1 to damage score for all hits greater than or equal to 6pts for bladed combat, that is, knives and swords) X
Target practice – ranged weapons (+1 to damage score for all hits greater than or equal to 6pts for any shot or thrown weapons) X
Hand-to-hand – unarmed combat (+1 to damage score for all hits greater than or equal to 6pts for unarmed combat)X
Self-defense – deflecting attacks (-1 from damage score for all hits greater than or equal to 6pts) X
Stealth - Allows tributes to sneak in to attack on their intro posts in fights. (This does not include the Bloodbath.) X
Edible and medicinal plants – allows tribute to identify non-poisonous plants, edible plants, and herbs from poisonous ones, allowing tributes to bypass the poisonous plants check.
Trapping – allows tribute to attempt to catch small game
Improvisational weapons – teaches tribute to make weapons out of hard wood that can be used for 2/3 damage in the arena (ie: a 6pt attack from a makeshift wooden spear would be redeemable for 4pts damage) All makeshift weapons are per staff acceptance. Without this station, hard wood can be used as a ½ damage club weapon (ie: 6pts damage = 3pts damage)
Fire making – allows tributes to make fire with natural resources. Fire can be used to boil water to make it drinkable when it is questionable if it is poisoned. This year, fire does not allows tributes to receive a bonus food day for game if they cook it.
First Aid – Allows tribute to subtract three from their damage score immediately following a fight (only once per fight, not once per day)
Tracking – Tributes will be sent a comprehensive report of everyone's location for the last Games Day
Endurance – Allows tributes to move two areas rather than one, but only once every three days.
If you have any questions, PM Wolf Tears or another staff member.
