It's dark. Everywhere is just... black. I feel the wind whistle through the vast, barren landscape. Except there are eight stones in front of me. Smooth, polished - as if the Capitol itself designed them. But they look more sinister. The gray tablets stand erect in the dark brown dirt. The coolness of the air is unbearable. Shivering, I creep closer to the rocks - something's bound to happen.
Suddenly, words carve into the rock, appearing there as if somebody's etching them into the stone slowly. I can read some of it... And I realize - they're tombstones. And there's more appearing all around me. Names that I've seen in school, my mother, Senalia, my fellow tributes. Names that I never even heard of are etched into the stones around me. And then, something grabs my shoulder.
I quickly turn around, fists raised - It's a skeleton, and he's directing me to a hole in the ground.
"We'll be waiting..."
I gasp, my eyes fly open. I quickly sit up and look around, making sure that there are no walking skeletons among us. Nope, only Clarisse. But I'm still freaked out. Ugh. I need some air. And some food.
I walk farther from the campsite, where I find a bunch of edible plants. I know this by heart now - but other areas probably have different kinds of plants as well.

I take some for later as well - It wouldn't be good if I'm starving and have nothing to eat.

I can tell why I had that dream. We watched the Anthem last night. And my worst fears were confirmed. Clarisse's allies were dead as well. And now there's only fifteen tributes left in the arena. There's no doubt in my mind that the Capitol is going to expect today to be as gory as yesterday. But I hope not. I don't think Agatha's picture appeared during the anthem, so that's good. And if there's less tributes, then there's less of a chance that we'll run into each other -- for the time being that is.
But suddenly, I sense that I'm not alone. I don't know how to explain this, maybe I feel heat radiating from somewhere? Perhaps I feel like someone's staring at me. But nevertheless, someone, or something is lurking in the shadows. Grabbing my broadsword, I dash towards the area where I sensed a presence, and swing the blade.
I only realize that it's another tribute until it's too late.
