Hayley loves to sing. When the house is quiet, her airy voice will emit from behind her locked bedroom door. When people sing badly, that heavily annoys her. She thinks if you can't sing, you shouldn't sing at all. Also, singing helps her express her hatred of the people who refuse to like her.

Hayley grew up in a large household. She had three older brothers before she was born, and was the only and youngest girl. Her brothers were her role models and best friends. While most teenagers wouldnt be caught dead with their little sisters, they showed her off proudly. She pretty much went everywhere with them.

When Hayley was 11, there was a fire at her brothers' workplace. The boss would lock the doors so the worker's wouldnt leave during the day, so everyone was trapped. There were no survivors in the fire. After that, Hayley's heart grew cold. She had no one to talk to, nobody who could understand her. Her parents always said they understood when they really didnt, so she almost stopped talking to them altogether.

Today, Hayley is extremely quiet. She sits in the back of all of her classes and talks to barely no one. Work is completed without interruption, so grades are average. Hayley's heart aches for her brothers. They were the only people she could talk to. Hayley will never be the same until someone changes her.

I'll just tell you right now, I'm not one to warm up to people easily. I don't even really like people -- but you'll hear about that later. Upon first approach, I can easily be taken for a cold, bitter ol' bastard who doesn't give a damn about anything. Partially, this is true; I often don't care what happens to anyone, so call me selfish if you want -- I don't care about your opinion. I'll flat-out tell you what I think, straight to your face. If I don't like you, I'll tell you; if I think you're wrong, I'll tell you, even if I soon figure our that I'm wrong -- I'm stubborn as an ass. And to continue along those lines, I don't like being bossed around. At all. I'm not your bitch, so don't even go there. And if I try bossing you around, I'll expect you to do it; but if you don't expect some icy stares or a few grumbling, cursing remarks. I won't exactly make you do what I say, seeing as I don't usually feel like it; and even if I did, I still wouldn't. By then, you'd probably just be a waste of my time.

Since I do live in District 6, I work in a lab. Two, actually -- and I love both in their own special way. First, the clean subject: I love working with explosive things. I don't know what exactly got me hooked onto the subject, but I loved it ever since I first started. Especially when we get to make controlled explosions -- damn, those're the best. Despite how childish and elementary it is, my favorite thing to do is separate hydrogen and oxygen molecules into tubes and put a lit match under the hydrogen one. No matter how shitty of a day I have, setting off hydrogen is my only real way of really blowing off steam. And now for my second favorite love of all time: human flesh. Believe it or not, I'm a cannibal. And I love it, which is why I also help out at the morgue a lot; and since it's a job that no one really likes, I can get plenty of good pickings by browsing the body boxes. Usually I'll just cut off some strips of flesh in spots that you wouldn't normally see at funerals and either stash them in a bag or simply eat it right then and there. This is my little secret, though, so don't go telling everybody. Besides, you don't want to find yourself being eaten alive in your sleep, do you now?

The only other thing I really have to say about myself is that I'm bisexual. I fancy both boys and girls alike. Why? Because I do. 'nuff said; you don't need to know every damn detail. But I must say, I tend to find boys a bit more. . . well, I'm not sure how to put it. I guess because it's more of a social taboo to like your own gender makes it more "adventurous", or even "forbidden", but it just makes it all the more fun. The ladies have their moments, yeah; they're a hell of a lot of fun. It's just so cliche, you know? I like to have a taste of both sides. However, I've been known to not stay in relationships that long. . . never really was a thing of mine.

Well, I was born in District 6 -- go figure. My mother was a prostitute and my father was a guy that really had nothing to do on the weekends. Well, they got together one night; a certain thing broke and a certain thing got loose and hit a certain thing and, well, here I am. They never really could decide what to do with me, handing me back and forth between the two of them like I was some dog. I was never used to staying in one place since my homes were being constantly shifted, but I adjusted. It's not like I had much time to spend with them anyway; my dad and his laboratory, and my mom and her--. . . yeah. She was quite busy. Do I even need to bother mentioning the things I heard at night?

So as I grew up, I grew distant from my parents; I started staying after school a lot more often just so I could spend time with friends and not have to waste my life away being alone, couped up in a house. And that was when I began to start seeing Cassandra, a beautiful brunette. At least, she was back then -- but we're not to that part yet. So anyway, since my whichever guardian I was staying with at the time wasn't home, I would invite her over a lot. We had a hell of a lot of fun together, though most of it wasn't with good intentions. Ha! If my parents could've seen what we did. . . well, I'm not sure what they'd do. They did the same thing, so it doesn't matter. The only thing was, though, it dawned on me that something about just bugged the shit out of me. I don't know exactly what it was, but I hated it. So one night while we had the house to ourselves, after our romping around, I waited until she was asleep before I took up a serrated knife. Bitch never saw it coming, hell no -- I stabbed the knife right between her shoulder blades, twisting it around so that it tore veins, flesh, and whatever else was in its way. All she managed was the start of a blood-curdling scream, but it quickly faded as her heart stopped.

So what did I do with the body? I ate it, of course. My first taste of human flesh.

It was the curiosity that caught my attention, really. I had always heard that human flesh had a peculiar taste, and so, as I sat in the blood soaked bed, I cut a slice of flesh from her arm, and ate it raw. The quality of the taste wasn't all that good, and the health risks were just too much to gamble with, so I settled to making a fire in the fireplace and cooking her. That was much better. Of course, I had to get rid of the inedible parts, so I literally buried them in the backyard. The taste was something that sent my taste buds into such a frenzy that I figure I had become addicted to human flesh right then and there. I loved it -- and I really wanted some more.

Enter Will, a big hulk of a guy. I was surprised by how easily I had managed to lure him into my new house of horrors; the big guy had a fairly small brain. Dumb ass. However, I shouldn't really be dissing on Will. . . he was the one that really sparked my interest in other males. But still, he was as intelligent as a box of rocks. Damn, it was a good thing I didn't actually like this guy; the only reason I had originally hit on him was just so I could kill him, which I did -- after romping around, of course; a serrated knife through the heart. Big Boy lasted me a good few days.

By now, I was out of school. No more luring innocent children for me. My impatient desire for human flesh was constantly bitching at me until I came up with the brilliant idea to work at the morgue -- only part time, though. I didn't want to seem too sketchy spending all my time there, but I could still get my fair share of human already slaughtered for me -- I just had to be sneaky about it, though. And not only that, but I began working in an explosives lab, which certainly makes my day every day.

Charas Ellefité Harp works for everything she has ever had. She is the last person you will ever see give up, even if she has severed limbs or dead lovers or anything of the like. Charas will always and forevermore give more than her all, and she reaps the benefits of this trait. She has never failed at anything she has set her mind to, other than one small incident.

And that incident has effected her entire life.

But, we'll come back to that later.

Charas is not particularly kind, nor does she attempt to come across friendly. All she wants is the best for her and her grandmother, Tizwin Vertigo. Tizwin is very old - very old, indeed - and has had diseases the local doctors have called Parkinson's and Addison's. She doesn't exactly know what those words mean, but Charas does know that she needs a large sum of money to pay for her monthly medical expenses. In her only kind gesture ever made in her entire life, she signed a contract to become a prostitute for the sake of her grandmother.

Being a prostitute had a great effect on Charas. She became aggressive after a few months, reflecting the nature of her main customers. She grew angrier and angrier, and her temper was easily flared over spilt milk. The only person who could ever keep her calm was her grandmother; but the frail lady was too snailish to stop Charas in time from attacking someone out of rage. Of course, luckily, the Peacekeepers are some of her main customers, so she has never been apprehended or charged.

Charas is more so pessimistic than optimistic. Her glass is always verging on emptiness. She uses all her excess water filling up her grandmother's cup. Charas's main goal in life is to keep her grandmother happy until she dies. When that day comes, Charas will kill the man who gave her the job of prostitute, and will flee into the wilderness.

Build: With curves as voracious and tempting as the devil himself, Charas can attract any man with a mind less than complex. It was a simple day in the season of autumn, almost eighteen years ago now. There were screams; there were tears; there was blood. The screams belonged to Charas's mother, Martella, during labor. The tears belonged to Tizwin as she watched her first and only granddaughter begin her life. And the blood came from Martella, Jacobi Harp - the first child of Martella - and then Thicket Harp. Is this making any sense to you? No? Well, let me give you some background on Thicket, Martella, Jacobi, and Tizwin.

The day that Martella Vertigo first met Thicket Harp was her sixteenth birthday. One month before, her two older brothers and her father had been killed in a mine explosion, leaving her and Tizwin all alone. It was dusk, and Martella had walked by the mines to cry to herself about the deaths of her family members. That's when she saw him - a mysterious looking slightly older boy standing in the mouth of the mine. Martella walked up to him, and asked him what was wrong.

He had lost his father in the explosion, as well.

Martella hugged the boy; and even though she didn't even know his name, she gave him a small kiss on the cheek.

A few hours later Martella was watching as the boy climbed out of her bedroom window and ran down the street to his house. Nine months later little Niffan Harp was born, and three months later Martella was married to the boy - Thicket Harp. A year and a half later, and Fradrix Harp was born.

The happy couple was just that - happy. Everyone in the Seam thought so highly of them. They had risen out of the clouds of ash billowing around them and came out of the hardships better than before, it seemed.

And that was when Charas Harp was born.
No one in the entire world knew that Thicket Harp was schizophrenic. His original family, of course, knew - but they were long since gone in a fiery grave below. Luckily for the Vertigo family, after the death of his family, Thicket had not experienced a bit of his disease - until, that is, when Charas was born.

Charas came out of Thicket's wife looking exactly like Thicket's mother. The voice that had taunted him returned with a wicked laugh, and took control. Thicket Harp never had another thought, another breather as himself. His schizophrenic side, however, did. He picked up a vase of daisies, and smashed it over Fradrix's head. The boy fell to the ground and was no more. The rest of the family couldn't even scream, but only could stand in fear and shock. Thicket took a shard of broken vase glass and stabbed deep into the neck of Niffan. The brothers were now even more similar than they had ever been before.

Thicket then turned to his wife, vase shard in hand, and lunged at her. However, Tizwin jumped in front of the attack and took the stab wound in her side. She slumped down to the ground, and watched as the man she thought loved her daughter brought death to her. Tizwin's tears streamed out, just wanting to die, wanting to be with the rest of her family, when she remembered Charas. She jumped up and grabbed the baby from her daughter's lap, and ran. In one hand was the baby; in her other, she held her punctured side. Thicket, naturally, attempted to follow her. He chased her out of the building and down the road, and reached within ten feet of her.

But, completely out of the blue, he died. Right there. A simple heartattack was the dying kiss for Thicket Harp, and then he was no more.

For the next eleven years, Tizwin raised Charas. Tizwin was able to support the two thanks to her job assisting the local butcher. Sadly, the lady came down with a horrible sickness that caused her to shake sporadically. She had no control over anything for a while, and so Chaaras had to become a caretaker of sorts.

Charas ran into a man dressed in all black one day in the market, who stopped her to propose a way to raise some money. Naturally, Charas was instantly drawn in to "a way to raise plenty of cash while having a jolly old time." At eleven, Charas didn't know what sex was. Her grandma had never told her such things, thus forcing Charas to find out on her own.

The first time it happened, Charas thought she was going to die. The pain was so great that she let out several whimpers and squeals, despite her "master's" request. Over time, she learned the ways to act, how to take it like a woman, and how to get extra pay out of her job.

Charas has been working as a prostitute for seven years now. She keeps her grandmother safe and as healthy as she can be. She has slept with every desperate, lonely man in the entire District, and has earned such high ranks in prostitution, that her pay has sky-rocketed. She is the most requested whore, ever. Of course, she despises the profession, and wants to end the life of the man who signed her off to her life. Until the day, she will wait. And she will be ready.

At first, Maura’s a snob. Really. Her first impression of you will be her impression of you for life. Basically, if you’re not pretty and/or rich, she’ll ignore you. You won’t exist, at least not to her. Better to act rich and never let the truth emerge than not have her as a friend at all. Because trust me, having her as a friend has its perks.

But it’s bad to judge Maura on a first impression basis. At first, she will seem snooty, rude, and conceited. But that’s not really her. If you happen to have the honor to befriend her, she’s actually a really nice, sweet girl. She loves all her friends, and would die for any one of them.

Maura is a flirt. Plain and simple. If you’re a guy, and Maura flirts with you, don’t get all excited with it. She does it to lots of guy every day. You’re nothing special. You’ll probably never have a chance with her. Probably. Anything’s possible though, right?

Maura does not enjoy getting into fights. As much as she may seem eager to pummel you to a pulp, or threatens to make you part of the concrete, she doesn’t really mean it. Or rather, she won’t do it herself. She might send one of her stronger accomplices, but that probably won’t happen, either. She doesn’t like inflicting pain on anyone or anything. Because she doesn’t enjoy when pain is inflicted on her, emotional or physical.

Being from District One, Maura’s life been easy-peasy. Her mother owns her own jewelry shop, turning beautiful gems into any accessory imaginable. Her father runs his own grocery store. Both of these shops bring in a lot of cash for their family. With all the extra cash floating around, Maura can afford to buy expensive clothing and accessories.

Maura has two little brothers, Derren, who is 12 and Charlemagne, who is 14. She adores Derren, but has a love/hate relationship with Char. He gets on her nerves all the time, and he is constantly asking for her opinion on things. Clothes, hair styles, girls, anything you can think of, he asks her opinion for. She loves Char and all, but Maura really thinks that he should make decisions on his own, and not off the opinions of his 16-year-old sister.

Derren is a little angel, to Maura. He brings her gifts, gives her all the attention she wants, and gives her a shoulder to cry on when she needs it. And in return, Maura does the same. Derren especially loves caramel drizzled chocolate, which the candy store doesn’t often make. She has to pay extra for them to make her a private batch for him.

Maura actually had a third sibling, a sister named Maia. She died when she was three, and Maura was ten. Maia died when she was abducted, and the Peacekeepers found her body in an alleyway a week later, emaciated and filthy. She had been abused, judging by the wounds and bruises plastered all over her body. That’s why she hates causing pain on anybody, because of Maia. They still haven’t ofund out who did all those horrible things to her.The news of Maia’s death rocked Maura’s world, and she went into a kind of daze for many months. Never striking up a conversation, and never being her usual self. She has since recovered, but when the topic comes up, she seems to block off the whole conversation.

Sarcastic, wise-boy, and smart alec- These are the main names that have been applied to Austan Sellard. He is incredibly sarcastic and cynical. He hates life in general but refuses to commit suicide because of his brother's untimely death. He absolutely will not put his parents through that again. Even though he disagrees with almost everything they do he still feels that he must do the right thing for their sake.

He is radically honest, saying whatever he thinks and not keeping secrets. This is dangerous for a resident of the District's though, and he knows he can only talk to his best friends, the animals. He cannot stand being around other people because of his introversion. This has severely affected him since the death of his younger brother two years ago. He was killed by a non-career who had obviously trained.

Austan loves his job herding the animals used for “organic” beef. He can roam almost anywhere within the vast pastures of District 10. Being an introvert has also been affected by this job. He enjoys animals and can calm down almost any creature that may be hostile.

Austan was born to a loving family in the middle class of District 10. He was the object of their adoration. Every time he did something. they would coo over it for hours. They even bought him a pet calf when he was 5. Their plan was for the calf to be a companion to him. He loved his cow. It grew up faster than him and was eventually slaughtered. Austan was told that it ran away.

When he was 2 his parents granted him with a little brother, Dustin. He loved Dustin more than the cow. Nothing of much importance happened again until he was 14. That is the year Dustin was reaped. He participated in the games and was brutally killed by District 7's male tribute. Obviously a sadist he tried to kill him in the most brutal way possible. Dustin managed to get a knife in between his attacker's ribs that eventually killed him. Dustin was still dead.

After watching his brother's death on television Austan became an introvert. He refused to talk to anyone and mostly just appeared to eat dinner. He began trying to find a job. Eventually he found one where he could be close to animals and away from humans. Wandering with the herds to monitor their health would be easy to him. He set off and only returns to town on the Reaping days.
