This could basically be put in the training as a way to get members to pick a somewhat useless skill overall - except in the unlikely chance that someone hits them with an insta-kill. I've been reading the fighting posts these last two games and insta-kills do tend to happen every now and again x'D! So for those who are confident they will get insta-killed five times over and are willing to go without one of the more popular skills they can take this.

Like it? Hate it? Really wanna date it?

Let me know! Oh and I was skimming through the suggestions and saw this: "We've already talked about a benefit of former Career training which will be implemented next Games." If you don't like the idea for an overall training station maybe that could be the benefit you are searching for - could give to people from 1,2,4? It's a passive ability that only protects from a random occurrence. Best I could think of!

Although it is definately something realistic, the fact that somebody could be in a certain state of mind to be completely focused on their surroundings, therefore avoiding instantaneous death, it's something that would be abused.
Insta-kills are the worst nightmare of each member with a tribute. I had Trace Rowgan, District 5 in the 56th Games, and every time I saw another post, not by me, I'd pray that I wasn't killed. So, obviously, I would've used that station. Everybody would use it, because they always have one slot that's generally empty, with exempts and stuff. (exempted stations are stations your tribute can automatically have, without filling one of their three slots, because of past experience).
So, with Trace, I had Endurance, Fire-Making, First Aid and Tracking. First Aid was exempt. I wouldn't have even thought twice about replacing Tracking for PoM, or anything to block Insta-kills.

Anyways, back to the point. Everybody would have it, and it would render the insta-killing useless.

Then there's the Career suggestion. Yes, it makes sense that the Careers should have some advantage. After all, they do train their whole lives. But that much of an advantage is insane. Something like 10 extra health, or a fourth slot for training stations would make more sense. But being invincible from insta-kills pushes it. At least in my opinion.

My only suggestion to your suggestion would be to make it that only one insta-kill could be missed. First insta-kill used on them is blocked, and they are saved from that. But if the next move is an insta-kill too, well, they die.

Hmm I had no idea it would be seen as overpowering when I posted it. I was trying to come up with a passive ability that would be fair to have in the games. Having a Career go into the games with it makes alot more sense than having a career get instakilled in a bloodbath by a D6 12 year old? lol

I think giving the Careers an extra slot would make them way too overpowered. As you said you went in with four slots so in theory the Careers could be going in with 5 slots vs. a regular Tributes 3. Having a station that deflects insta-kill attacks would be realistic for a Career to have passively but would also allow if it was an overall station to be used by those who don't want to pick the more offensive and self repairing stations.

Your suggestion to it only blocking one insta-kill a fight could be a better use for this station. I'd have to agree that if used it should only grant the Tribute one block per fight making the station more balanced and like first aid only used once per fight.

That'd be so awesome to trick silly fools into taking that station instead of a useful one >:D then awesome people could kick their butts with amazing fire-building, herb-collecting, and self-defense skills! Yayayayyyy :D Howeversss, I think instead of totally averting the insta, the station should maybe "divert" it so they still get high damage [like 10 damage points or something]. Also, maybe instead of 'Presence of Mind' [which implies the char might be sane, and few are xD] it could just be 'Quick Reactions' or something. xD dunno.

EDIT:: I agree it should only be usable once per fight. ^^

Mhm. The idea has merit, and is fairly well thought-out, however it sort of defeats the purpose of the instakill: that anyone could die at any time, regardless of anything. It will be considered, and thank you for your input, but I don't think it will be implemented in the future.
