Appearance:
If it weren't for his nose, maybe he wouldn't be so friendless. If it weren't for his nose, maybe he would be more social. If it weren't for his nose, maybe he wouldn't be so self-concious, or maybe he could get a girlfriend, or at least a date. But no, it has to be freckle-ridden, wide, long, and bridged. It's ugly. Or at least that’s what Hilderic comes to believe. However, this is all just one big lie. You see, Hilder here, he‘s really self -conscious, and he can‘t seem to see that his nose is actually quite beautiful. Well, that is, as far as noses go. It‘s width is nothing to worry about, it‘s length isn‘t even a problem, the bridge on it is barely visible, and the freckles on it do nothing but bring out his deep green eyes. It‘s weird how things work though. Because for some very strange reason, Hilderic, well, he thinks that his eyebrows are the best facial feature on him. But, if you haven‘t already noticed, they aren‘t attractive at all. The left one is just a tad misplaced and has a few places where hair is scarce, and the right brow is slanted. Not arched, but slanted. This makes out for a large space in between the two. It looks quite goofy really, but somehow, someway, Hilder still believes they're the most attractive thing on his body.
Other than those two distinct things, everything else on his face is, well, average. There isn't anything special about his ears, his lips, his cheeks, or anything. They're just average. Nothing special, just normal. In fact, it doesn't really classify as being handsome or ugly. It's just, normal.
His hair is crafted quite wonderfully though. One of the very few things on him that isn't average or below average. It's black, and spiked in the front. No gel, no styling solution is used, but it grows naturally like that. It's not even that lengthy, short really, but still, beautiful. The ends, well, there very geometric. The back forming a very precise line. Very straight, not a defect in it, continuing in the same straight line that it has grown in until it reaches where hair normally turns and jet's up vertically. The corners form almost a perfect right angle. It's ridiculous really. How so many girls would date, even be in a relationship with Hilder, just because of how perfect his hair is.
Alright, enough of the hair and face and eyebrows and-- whatever. His abs, well, they aren't really abdominals at all. As in they aren't a result of exercise and physical activity. Just a result of lack of food. Of course, it looks like he exercises and whatnot, but he doesn't. Though he wishes it was an effect of exercising, Hilder never does anything to actually improve them. Sure, he might run around and gather up some sheep every now and again, but it does nothing major.
Hilderic's arms are also just skinny. Except, you can't see much muscle on them. Only when flexing. They aren't very appealing to the eye either, with freckles and small bumbs riding the triceps of each of them. It's irritating to him really. He constantly picks at the little bumps, redness forming because of it. The freckles don't make it any better either. So now, there's two skinny arms, with little muscle, that have bumps, freckles, and a red tint to it all on this self-conscious male named Hilderic. Poor him.
His legs are hairless. Very, very, hairless. Barren. Like a desert, with hundreds of visible pores on both of them. To make things even worse, there are always scars and little bites and scratches on them. They're hideous, truly, but it's another one of those strange things where he thinks something ugly is attractive. Yeah, that's right. He thinks his legs are attractive. The scrawny little things covered in scratches and hairless pores. Weird, but that's just him.
So, overall, Hilderic is just a self-conscious human being that doesn't know what looks good and what looks ugly. His hair is nearly perfect, and his nose is too. Everything else, it's either normal or ugly. Got it? Good, 'cause that's all you're gonna get.
Personality:
History:Yeah, Hilder's self-conscious, okay? Really self-conscious. As in, he thinks not one thing about him is good. Other than his intellectual ability and his eyebrows and legs. What a weird combination, no? Well, it is in my eyes. This trait really rules his life. You see, Hilder here, he's so self-conscious in fact, that he hasn't had the courage to ask a girl on a date for four years. Yeah, that's right. Hilder hasn't asked out a girl since he was 13. Ew, creepy. Anyway, don't let this lead you to think that he hasn't been asked out by girls, and some guys, through the four years. It happens quite often really, one every two weeks or so, but he rejects every single one of them, scared as to whether a not a good impression would be made on them.
Don't think he doesn't have his moments though. Like, he's sometimes sporadic. Yelling random things, or having very short outbursts where he's really social. Even sometimes, these outbursts can last for a number of days, even though this is very rare. His personality in these outbursts are really quite normal. You know, the funny personality, but not too funny. And he doesn't talk too much, just enough that it doesn't make him look like a freak, but still civilized, and not too hyper, but still active.
But, you see, Hilder, he's really quite friendly though. Even though he's self-conscious, and he puts off the vibe that he doesn't like anyone, he really does. And if you were to befriend him, you should be glad that you did, because he's one of the best friends that you can have. He's trustworthy, he respects most everyone, and he'd be there for ya'. So please, even though he's self-conscious, don't think he's antisocial. It's definitely not the case.
Eh, yeah, I guess he can be a bit antisocial too. I mean, he acts like he doesn't have any friends, sometimes that is.. And maybe he thinks that life isn't a good thing. But this doesn't make him a bad person, does it? Anyway, he can have his moments, just like any other human being can, except his moments are just a tad more exaggerated and a tad more sustained. He can't help it, it's a part of his human nature.
Don't be so pessimistic! Don't be so pessimistic about being pessimistic! Don't be a Hilderic! Oh, well.. oops, that slipped. I guess I should tell you about Hilder's pessimistic ways now.. So yeah, in his eyes, everything turns out for the worst, nothing good can ever happen in pressured situations, and he always prepares for the worst that could happen. He's optimistic in a way though, because sometimes, he actually wants the bad things to happen. Just for the sake of them happening.
He's adventurous though. Even though he can be a bit hesitant about things, he likes to find new things. Whether they be old, historical, small, big, round, geometric, brown, blue, rainbow-- you get the point. He loves the feeling that you get when your foot slips when your climbing up a hill. Ya' know? The tingling that goes from the bottom up from your feet up to the top of your hair? Yeah, he loves that. It makes him cringe with excitement and fear. This dude right here, he's a strange one.
He can be defiant too. Argumentative, disobedient, insolent. It's all him. He can't help it though, being surrounded by it all of his life. If something doesn't go his way, or if he thinks differently on someone else's opinion, prepare for an argument. Don't think he'll just say that the person is wrong, because he'll fill your mind with so many reasons why you're wrong you'll be persuaded in an instant as to why you were wrong. And if there is something that he doesn't feel like doing, he won't do it, so just deal with it.
Codeword: muttationsLife's hard for Hilder. Or so it was. Being born into drama, Hilder's a bit used to it. His sister was only 1 when it happened. Hilder being barely a month old. Apparently his dad didn't like him, because on that day, the day that Hilder turned a month old, he left. No reason given. To this day, he still blames it upon himself as to why his father left him, Laura, his sister, and Dyan, his mother, on their own.
Only a about 2 years after that incident, of living without a father, did Laura finally realize that 'Hilderic' was a mouthful to say. Laura then insisted on calling Hilderic things like 'Ric' and 'Deric', but Hilder opposed, as he thought it was too "little". He didn't really care about his looks, and what others thought of him at the time, so he insisted on being called 'Hilder', as it was quite a big word to him and he liked it. He eventually gave in though, so now only Laura is permitted to call Hilderic things like 'Ric' or 'Deric'.
Time passed and they grew up. Dyan getting meaner and stricter every year. Dyan was so mean in fact, that she forced Laura, at the age of 8 years old, to get a job. Laura wasn't the type of person to disobey, so she did, eventually getting a job herding sheep. Not long afterward, as Hilder wanted to follow in Laura's footsteps, he got a job herding sheep too. Well, more so shearing them, but occasionally he herded and gathered the sheep with Laura.
As time progressed, Dyan, she got even more strict than she already was. It lead to something tragic. A trip from each one of their rooms, Hilderic's and Laura's, and into the world of homelessness. They had ran away. Ran as far away from their horrid mother as they possibly could. They eventually found a very small abandoned shack. A living room, bathroom, dining room, and a bedroom located inside. Dyan had no interest in finding Laura and Hilderic, so now, they barely survive, and try to put up the impression that they aren't so poor. Their jobs working as sheep herders and shearers barely giving them enough money to eat throughout the week.
