Ideas For Revised Industries

Okay, so, as you may know if you were in the c-box at the time, I have a RPG book that is filled with descriptions, most of which I feel would fit the HG world quite well. I will provide a few of the better ones here, corresponding with the confirmed district industries, as found on The Hunger Games Wiki.

District One; Luxury Items: As the district in charge of luxury items, it makes sense that District One would be known for it's beauty. At night, it is said to be an ocean of light. That doesn't stop the uglier part of life in Panem, the Hunger Games, to taint the lives of the populace. Children here are often trained for the Hunger Games to bring prestige to the district.

District Two; Quarrying: This district is rich in useful stone, and it's main industry, quarrying, makes its inhabitants tough and hardy, ideal for Careers. Yet its stone doesn't explain why the Capitol appears to coddle it. The answer, unbeknownst to most, if not all of Panem, is this: In addition to producing stone, this district also produces Peacekeepers.

District Three; Machinery and Factories: This heavily industrialized district produces everything from cars to coffee mugs; computer parts to fire arms. However, due to it's high industrial output, pollution is a problem. The district is covered in a perpetual haze, and pollutants find their way in the soil and water faster every year.

District Four; Fishing: The people of this shoreside district live in stilted houses to keep out of reach of the tide. Early every morning, fishing boats go out to supply Panem's seafood... or, as the cynical would say, the Capitol's seafood. Like her sister districts of One and Two, District Four is known for its skillful Careers.

District Seven; Lumber: A lush district of thick forests, the land is difficult, if not impossible, to clear and farm, making lumber its only real source of income. Children are sent to work at an early age, so this districts tributes are often skilled in the use of hatchets, and just as tough as any Career, if lacking in finesse.

District Eight; Textiles: The people of this district are the weavers of Panem, producing all the clothing and cloth the country needs. They raise their own sheep, llamas, silk worms, etc., and work endlessly to fill their quotas. Consequently, a tribute from this district may not be the strongest. Unless you take animal wrangling into account.

District Ten; Livestock: District Ten is situated in a part of Panem that is suitable for ranching, and little else. People here learn to raise, and kill, livestock at a relatively young age. While you'd think raising the food would earn you a large share of it, that isn't so in District Ten. Tributes from this district tend to be a bit on the skinny side, but very strong from animal handling. And, if their old enough, certainly adept at slaughtering.

District Eleven; Agriculture: An entirely agricultural place, this district is considered the breadbasket of the whole of Panem. Food is grown, processed, and packaged here. Don't think this makes the civilians any better off, though. The schedules are crushing, and the Peacekeeper presence never goes unfelt. Children here spend their years packaging food, or flitting from tree to tree, harvesting fruit.

District Twelve; Coal Mining: The least fortunate of the districts. People who've been dealt a bad enough hand by Fate to live here live a sad, oppressed existence, all too often forced to prostitution and crime to survive. Mining regulations are lax, and deaths are all too frequent, in the mines and the streets. If you're a tribute from here, pray hard. A prayer may be all you have.
