Anthem - Day 8

Without warning, the sky above you- long since dark with the passing of the sun, making the Arena even eerier than before- bursts into sound and colour. The sound of the Panem’s anthem fills the air, alerting you to look up and see the seal of the Capitol appear, so bright it overrides the stars. The Anthem continues to play until completion of every nauseating note. You could swear they’re trying to mock you- and in truth, they probably are.

The song finally fades finishes, and the seal is replaced by the faces of the dead tributes:

Quick addition reveals that twenty tributes have already died, leaving four in the Arena to compete for victory. If you wish to survive, you still have to ensure the deaths of three others.

Overnight, the Arena freezes; if anyone could still get to the lake, they would find a thin sheet of ice over it, and slower-moving sections the creek start to harden over as well. Some sleet even falls over the western forests, although those within are well-protected by the leafy cover provided by the trees. By the time the sun has been up several hours, lucky, the temperature has warmed up enough to be considered reasonable, although some may still find themselves chilly.

More undeterred than even those tributes that grew up in cold climates, however, are the scarecrows. Though they've been unseen for days, they've begun to close in again; sometime during the night they received instructions and positioned themselves, and now anyone trying to pass through to the eastern half of the Arena is out of luck. They won't fight back if you try to 'kill' them, but there's always another to take the place of the one you destroyed... and another... and another.
