NOTE: I'm also playing Naoki, but I made another account for this character. For some reason, I always feel kind of OCD about having separate accounts for separate characters. But I really do understand if this is not allowed! If I am supposed to roleplay all my characters under just one account, please let me know and I will do that! Sorry for any trouble! ^_^;;;;;

Name: Katsuo Suzuki
Age: 20
Gender: Male
District/Area: Formerly District 1, currently a Wanderer living in an area close by to District 1
Appearance:
Katsuo is 20-years-old and therefore too old to be considered a possible contender in the Hunger Games. However, his appearance can be pretty deceiving, and people often mistake him for a much younger age. This is not helped by the fact that he is rather short, at a mere height of 5'7", and just as skinny. Despite the fact that he does quite a bit of hard labor to support those he is living with, Katsuo is still more slender in appearance than muscular.
He has naturally black hair and very large, slanted dark brown eyes that--he's heard--hint at his inner prankster. One of the traits that has proven most handy to him is the slight femininity of his appearance. Once upon a time, Katsuo hated his more feminine-looking traits--like the big lips, softer features......Until he learned how well they actually worked for him.
Katsuo also has a piercing in each ear, but as he no longer really has the money for jewelry, he hardly wears studs anymore anyway. He has no tattoos and was never interested in them anyway.
In the way of clothes, considering what he has to work with on such a seriously limited budget, Katsuo dresses pretty modestly. He has no specific style. Though he puts quite a bit of thought into what he will wear for the day, especially if he has to go on one of his family's usual missions to "earn money", he has no specific style or interest in clothes. If anything, comfort is a priority for him, though once upon a time, his style was probably more male prep than anything else.
Personality:
Katsuo's pretty easy-going. Considering the difficult circumstances he and his adopted family face each day to survive, his moods are pretty moderate. He doesn't really believe in becoming extremely angry or the like without a seriously good reason, though that's not to say he has never had serious emotions before in his life either.
On the other hand, Katsuo is also pretty stubborn. It definitely takes a lot for him to get on the same page as someone else, if he didn't agree with them in the first place. In this respect, he's pretty true to his own morals and would likely stand up for them in even the worst of situations.
Katsuo is also extremely devoted to his loved ones. He often finds himself worrying about his adopted family's well-being. He's got something of a parent-type complex in watching over them. Being the oldest of the runaways he's living with and the one who sort of brought them all together, he feels it's his responsibility to keep them all in line and safe.
But the negativity aside, Katsuo considers himself a "pretty good guy", all things considered. He is something of a joker (and, back when he was younger, even used to be quite the prankster). He likes nothing more than having a good time with his loved ones. All that being said, Katsuo is pretty determined, and he definitely considers himself loyal to his friends and family. He also tries to stay hopeful about things, just because he became well aware, some time ago, that being pessimistic never led to anywhere good in his life.
History:
Katsuo was born to a rather well-to-do Japanese family living in District 1 in the current world. His early childhood was was easy-going and enjoyable. Though his father, a man who prided himself on his "importance", was often away from the home, Katsuo had a good enough upbringing spent with his mother. He was the only child in his family, which sometimes gave him an incredible sense of loneliness, but it didn't change the fact that he had more than enough money to live and be happy.
It was when Katsuo turned 13, the age where he was eligible to be entered into the Hunger Games, that things began to go downhill.
On his 13th birthday, Katsuo's father sent his only son to the nearest Training Center. The man had never expressed interest in Katsuo becoming a Tribute before--he'd never expressed any sort of interest, come to think of it--but suddenly, he'd turned his stern eye on his only child. By the time Katsuo was fifteen, he'd miraculously escaped the clutches of the Hunger Games, but he'd been working just as hard on his training at his father's wishes. Neither Katsuo nor his mother wanted him to become a Tribute, but Katsuo's father, as if eager to impress his friends, peers, someone of importance, insisted this was the most honorable thing for them to do as a family.
The only thing Katsuo could do was work hard at his training and pray, deep down, that he wouldn't be chosen. Or volunteered.
As Katsuo's 17th birthday was approaching, things became much more serious. Even despite his mother's adamant pleas against it, Katsuo's father became more adamant than ever that his son be selected for the ultimate challenge and bring some positive attention to the family. Katsuo had to train harder and for longer hours. His father wasn't yet positive that his only son would be good enough for the task.
"You have to be perfect, absolutely perfect. We'll send you in, and you'll bring us just the kind of attention we want."
Katsuo really was working hard, and it was beginning to show. He knew deep down that when he finally did turn 17, his father would volunteer him for the Games. He would be sure that his son would win.
So Katsuo ran away. Far, far away. And though it felt weird and difficult to leave home, Katsuo never looked back, though he knew it was likely his father would send someone after him.
Katsuo found early on that the easiest way to survive on his own was one most people probably didn't want to even consider doing. He'd once lived in one of the richest places in the modern world, and it took a lot for even him to sink to the level he did, at least mentally.
To survive, Katsuo began doing things he never imagined he would do. Or even could do.
During the day, he would sneak into large village areas, wherever he happened to be living (at the beginning of his life as a runaway, he was always moving somewhere, afraid that staying in one place would mean he would be found), to steal things.
At first, it was just food and drink, so that he could keep up his strength and keep running. But eventually, Katsuo began to steal more material things, like expensive cloth or jewelry...things like that. He began to make a living by stealing the most expensive things he could, then selling them to make a profit to buy food and supplies for himself. He only discovered the "night business" by accident.
One night, after having traveled to one of the Upper Middle Districts, Katsuo accidentally ventured into an area that specialized in prostitution. All on his own, Katsuo hardly knew any better about the area, especially as he was unfamiliar with it. It was only after a rather rough, sleazy-looking guy from the Upper Districts, a guy that reminded Katsuo too much of his own father, came after him that Katsuo realized that there was actually something of a profit to be made in the prostitution areas. Just not in the conventional sense.
Katsuo didn't allow the man to hurt him in any way. At first he'd been terrified. He wasn't the largest guy in the world, and the one who'd confronted him in an alleyway of the prostitution zone was practically all over him the minute he saw him. Yet as if by some sort of unfortunate and strangely ironic twist, it was the guy's shock at discovering Katsuo was not, in fact, a lonely girl that gave the boy the chance to kick his assailant's butt and get the heck out of there.
The moment had terrified him, but Katsuo then realized that the biggest amounts of money could be made off the sleazes one found in the prostituting areas, and he began to work double-time, stealing during the day when he could, and "mock-whoring" (as he called it) at night. After a year or so of this lifestyle, he'd earned enough money to actually live semi-comfortably. Though he was constantly on the move and didn't have nearly enough to buy a home of his own, it wasn't much later that he met the people who are now his "adopted family."
He met Yuki and Nozomi first. The two were close in age to him, and also runaways who were having a hard time making it on their own. Katsuo leaped at the chance to live with others, especially those of the same ethnicity. His life had become rather lonely, and he'd always wanted siblings. However, Katsuo only taught his new "family" his day-time lifestyle. He didn't want either the new boy or girl to know how he made his money at night.
And not much later after that, Katsuo, Yuki, and Nozomi met Naoki and his younger brother, Ki. Katsuo truly pitied the younger boys, whose lives had certainly seemed more difficult than his own. He felt a need to protect them, keep them under his wing, almost, and he insisted they join up with him, Yuki, and Nozomi.
"The more the merrier," he'd first said to the boys, after hearing their story. "We all speak the same language, and we can watch out for each other too."
The five runaways stuck together for the next two years and eventually came across an abandoned but fortunately still well-standing warehouse close to the Upper Districts. By this point, Katsuo had turned old enough that even if his father was still searching for him after three years, he would be too old to be forced into the Hunger Games anyway.
Eventually, he taught the other guys in his household the ropes of "mock-whoring" so they could make even more to keep up their makeshift home. He refused to teach Nozomi, though she more than once she insisted she could handle it, and usually he demanded that at least one of the guys stay home with her. Sometimes Katsuo and the other guys would work the gay prostitution area, other nights, it would be the ladies' one, and Katsuo and his boys would dress up as girls. Best of all, they never failed to pass as girls (especially Katsuo, who had some naturally feminine traits), and they usually got a good kick out of it.
The key to the boys' "night ventures" was getting money, not getting attacked or raped.
"No sleeping with anyone, and don't let yourself get in a position like that," Katsuo'd first warned the other boys. He'd long ago decided that enough money could be made by either demanding payment up front, then leading the guy away and kicking his ass. Or, in the worst case scenario, being led away, letting something small--not big--happen, then kicking the client's ass and taking his money by force. So far, it had worked, and it had worked well. The family's warehouse home, though not the coziest of places, is decently stocked and good enough to live in. And being that there are others with him to watch over and love, Katsuo feels content enough.
He is currently living with his adopted family, three other boys, one girl, and himself, in the abandoned warehouse they discovered not far from the Capitol and Upper Districts themselves. He is working hard every day to ensure that his family is safe and content. To keep everything organized, Katsuo developed a schedule that decided who would go to whatever location to either work during the day or at night.
