Bimonthly Economic Report

Young-Scott Econ, Inc.
In the past fortnight, little has changed for the company; our sales are holding steady, with a .5% overall increase in revenue. Panem, however, is less stable, which could spell good or bad for us depending on how we use it.
The medicinal industry in District Two has begun to flag as fewer and fewer advancements come out of the area’s stale pool of researchers. Many have begun to expand their pursuits and turn to more labourious work. In particular, mining is becoming quite popular. It is also worthy of note that the District is starting to see an economic boost from the influx of Peacekeepers, who have moved into the region en masse. The reasons for this move are unclear, but they may be there to keep the quickly-changing population at ease during the turmoil.
This week, a great deal of previously-unknown natural gas has been discovered deep beneath District Five. The rush of companies has already begun, and oil rigs are beginning to spring up across the District. For the health of their animals, those who make their professions in such areas are advised to leave now, before the area becomes crowded or polluted and while they can still get deals on land prices from companies who are desperate for more land to tap. One suggestion is District Ten, which as a primarily academic area has a lot of empty space that could, if handled well, be perfect for grazing. If you are in this situation and choose this option, be sure to contact a local Peacekeeper for help with the official movement process.
For some time, the scientists of District Six have been picking up the slack of Two’s slowing output. Now, as residents of District Two shift their focus entirely, Six’s leading researchers are coming into their own. Expect to see great things come from there in the future.
District Seven is also responding to need. Due to the area becoming crowded and the desire for more construction is lessening, most companies no longer seem to be using their lumber to build, but rather shipping it raw or making other materials from it such as furniture and paper. The change is, as in Six, somewhat subtle and many residents’ jobs are unchanged, but the region’s higher-ups (those who run companies and develop assembly methods) are seeing a definite boost.
Due to a recent spike in the number of unsolicited excursions, which have resulted in an unfortunate number of District Nine’s denizens being pulled to the Capitol for reprimanding, Peacekeepers have begun collecting the bows and arrows formerly allowed for District hunting. Some are allowed to keep their weapons, but most are having to look at different options. To help, Peacekeepers have begun angling the flow of raw materials from parts of Panem such as Two, Twelve, and Seven so that it comes to the residents of Nine, who then refine the goods into anything too luxurious to be produced in District One and not high-tech enough for Three, from rubbers to metal frames.
No changes have occurred in District Ten since the last report, but is expected to see the effects of the added population from Five within weeks. Expectations are that it will become rather akin to District Eleven, which has always worked closely with Ten’s husbandry-based population.
Please keep this information in mind for marketing purposes. Definite changes are coming, and it's hard to predict the effect on the company's sales. Remember whose job is on the line if productivity drops.
Since Mockingjay came out, there has been discussion of changing the District industries to match those in the series. This is the fulfillment of all those questions, comments, and discussions. As soon as I post this, I'm going to go put up the new board descriptions.
Your characters will not have to move Districts or change jobs, although if you want them to, by all means do so! (Just make sure to notify staff if your character moves, as always.) This is primarily for upcoming characters, but feel free to use it as an opportunity for plotting.
Happy Christmas/Ratmas/Holiday/Celebration/Kwanza/Whatever/etc, THGRPG!
