Pongo's looks are entirely average; he stands at a normal height of 5'11 and has broad shoulders, although there's not much muscle bulk to him. His limbs are rather long and lanky, and his hands and feet are rather big, which causes some awkward clumsiness. His skin tone is on the pale side, and freckled in some places.
No feature of his face is particularly distinct, although his chin does stick out some from his roughly oval shaped facial structure. His nose is relatively normal, if on the large side, and his lips are thin. The hazel green of his eyes is largely unexciting; eyebrows a few shades darker than his hair arch ever so slightly over them. His locks of dark blonde are quite unruly at times; they stick out every which way unless he smooths them down with some kind of gel. He dresses in a wide variety of different fashions, most far from the norm. Indeed, you would be hard pressed to find Pongo wearing the same thing as anyone else...because most wouldn't dare to be seen in some of the things he wears.

The District Two teenager boasts an extremely quirky personality, far from what would be expected of one his age. His enthusiasm for things is an extremely prominent characteristic; if something entertains, amuses, or interests him in any way, you can be sure he'll rush right into it with a smile on his face, beckoning his friends to come with him as well. He's very much an optimist, although when things don't have a positive outcome he almost takes it personally, and is quick to get upset. He's exceedingly intelligent, though, despite being a bad judge of other things, and school comes easy to him.
Not all that surprisingly, Pongo tends to have difficulty making close friends, although he's incredibly friendly himself once you get to know him. It's perhaps his zeal for so many things; this has a tendency to puzzle people, who in turn keep their distance from him. But get past the quirks and you've got a fiercely loyal friend who's honest (even if it hurts), trustworthy, and good for a laugh if you're desperate for some cheering up. He's also never hesitant to try new things, and this often gets him into sticky situations. But he always means well, Pongo, even if he screws up. And that's what matters, right?
your eyes are blocking my starlight
i'm the last of my kind
and that's all that should matter to you

and that's all that should matter to you
Growing up as an only child has both positives and negatives, both of which Pongo experienced. He doesn't remember his dad very much, and was never told what happened to him, either; just around when Pongo was four, dad was gone. It didn't bother him very much, although it tightened his mother's hold on him by a hundredfold. It was bearable for the first decade of his life, because as a child he had always loved her dearly, but even for someone as kindhearted as him it was obviously bound to get annoying as he grew older. His mother kept him away from girls, claiming they would cause nothing but trouble for a sensible boy like him, but he continued to make friends with them anyway--sometimes girls were more fun then boys, although he liked them, too. Really he was never fussed with who he was friends with--if someone liked to hang out with him, that was great! It just meant that if his mother disapproved then he'd have to be extra careful. He realized this early on, and this was why those he considered his 'friends' rarely ever stepped foot in his house. Mum would also never allow her precious boy to train for the Hunger Games, and told him time and time again that, if he were Reaped, he was not to accept his position under any circumstances. After all, there were plenty of Careers in their district who would take his place, because he wouldn't stand a chance in that arena.
Though teased some, he got through elementary and junior high easily, owing this more to his high grades than anything else. High school, however, is definitely a different story; teenagers in the second district of Panem are just like those anywhere else--sneaky, ignorant, lustful. And not to mention the Hunger Games; the fights that broke out around Reaping time were vicious, because people were desperate to prove their worth. This was something Pongo had a hard time understanding, so he was often shunted to the side by his former acquaintances while they partook in dangerous activities that made Pongo skeptical. He found himself on the outside looking in more often than not, and for someone like him, this was intolerable. Since then, he's tried many things in hopes of being accepted by his peers, but in all reality he's very naive about the teenage world of sex, drugs, parties, and blatantly breaking every rule in the book.
