Age: 16
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 9
Appearance:
Jessamine is average size, willowy figure, and slightly more curved than others her size. She has keen dark emerald eyes that are surrounded by thick, dark eyelashes. Her face is built angular. Though it has a certain cherubic roundness that she can never seem to get rid of, and makes her appear younger than she already is. Her lips are naturally full, and a light rosy color. A small amount of sun freckles dot the bridge of her nose, though they fade in the winter months when the sun isn’t as strong. Her rick teak hair falls slightly curly around her waist, but more often than not it is contained in a tight braid. Her skin is naturally lily white, though, much to the abhorrence of her mother, it has become a light golden brown since she spends so much time in the sun. She only has one small hunting scar on the webbing (or whatever that fleshy area between the thumb and pointer finger is called) between her thumb and pointer finger due to her first attempt at hunting with a knife at the age of six. In general Jessamine hates the way she looks since it brings her unwanted attention that isn’t welcome in her “escapades”, and she wouldn’t be as restricted in all things as she is now. Though there are those times in which she can persuade people more easily using her looks.
Personality:
Jessamine’s is like her looks, in the same way an elephant is like a table lamp, i.e. not at all. No matter how much her mother wants her to be she will never be that sweet demur girl that never wants to get dirty or do anything other than what is asked of her. She is a very secretive girl that hides another life completely from her parents, and keeps most things from everyone but her most trusted confidences. She free time is spent evading the Peacemakers and making a name for herself as a small time thief., so not only is she very quick, quiet, and skilled; she can persuade a beggar to giver her the shirt off her back, or at least put the Peacemakers off her trail. When she has extra time outside of hunting and thievery she gains knowledge by ways of observing people, her surroundings, and nature; also she reads feverish intensity and often goes through three or four books of various topics and sizes a day. Despite her sometimes hard nature she in caring and loyal to those that earn it. She may be hunter, but she does care for animals, especially her German Sheppard pup, Bullet. She is also fiercely loyal and kind to those she deems worthy of it, though the only person who has earned it is her father, and everyone else gets the same cordial coolness (or sugary sweetness when she has to)
History:
Jessamine was born into a wealth family in District nine, but doesn’t seem to fit in anywhere in it. She is the middle child, with a 21 year old older brother named Elder and an eight year old younger sister named Belladonna. Elder is married to Amethyst, a pretty girl of the same social status. Jessamine is her Father’s favorite and her mother only treats her as a pretty doll, though she is often over shadowed by her older brother’s accomplishments, and her younger sister’s “adorable” antics. Her father is Samuel Hawthorne a rather important furrier and hunter in their district, and her mother is Holly Hawthorne, she was born and raised to be a hunter’s wife and a homemaker, and that is what she has become; she handles the house and everything that has to do with it.
Jessamine is the only one in her family besides her father that has shown a passion for hunting, not to mention a great skill. She demonstrated this when she was six and she caught a rabbit with her father’s hunting knife behind their house. It is then she got her fist and only hunting scar, and her father, who ignored his wife’s protests, decided she should learn how to hunt. She mastered almost any hunting tool she picked up whether it be a bow and arrows, a knife of any size, a spear, or even a simple slingshot; she can hunt effectively with it. Seeing this, her father brought her on many hunting trips, and often came back with twice the pelts he ever had before.
Though it wasn’t before long that Jessamine discovered another hidden talent, thievery. It was only by mistake that she happened upon this skill. It came about one day when she was shopping with her mother, she was admiring a pair of fur lined boots in a shop and before she even realized what she was doing those boots were on her feet and no one was the wiser, not even the shopkeeper who’s daughter was casual friends of Jessamine’s. Once she realized what she could do she became a small time thief, simply stealing things from shops that she admired; clothes, boots, and the occasional pretty bauble. It was almost a year of these petty thefts before the Peacemakers became the wiser of her activity, though being her charming self she was quickly able to convince them of her innocence. She then decided it was time that she quit frequenting shops for her goods, and turn to people’s houses to test her skills. After all many people in her area of the district were to proud to announce that they had been robbed.
Her first jaunt into this part of the world of thievery lead her to the house of her next door neighbors, a business partner of her father’s, another rich furrier. She had accompanied her father there once a week when he had a weekly business meeting with this man. Once she was inside and her father was safely distracted, she quickly excused herself to the bathroom only to make a detour to the master bedroom, and raided the lady of the house’s jewelry box. She took pieces of jewelry that wouldn’t be missed and left anything that seemed too precious or valuable. She then sold anything she didn’t really want on the black market, and kept everything else in a small bag in a loose floorboard. She was never suspected in the theft, nor was her name even brought into the report.
Her crimes, if you could call them that, then escalated in size, danger, and worth. She eventually had to move all her prizes to a good sized lock protected hiding place deep in the wilderness of her district. This place was also a place she escaped to when she needed to get away. I was a small clearing next to a pond with soft grass, wild flowers, and wild animals abound. Those there was something in her that made animals feel at ease around her, much like the people of District Five. Only it was more like a civil respect, they didn’t hunt her and she wouldn’t hunt them. That small area was the only place where no animals were harmed by her hands.
Though despite her being a hunter, Jezzabelle loved animals, especially one little pup her father got for her on her sixteenth birthday, he is a German Sheppard she named Bullet. She plans on training him to accompany her on hunting expeditions when he gets old enough though since he is only six months old he is currently just a sweet bundle of fur that Jessamine gives all her love and most of her attention to. He sleeps next to her every night on her bed. Jessamine also has a seemingly unsuitable thirst for knowledge. She is a reader of all genres, and a keen observer for her environment. She has become a keen reader of people and a good tracker to boot. She knows when she can trust someone and when she can’t.

Comments/Other:
Jessamine isn’t afraid nor very interested in the Hunger Games. If she get picks she’ll do her best, and even though she knows she’ll probably lose she refuses to even think about going down without a fight. She hopes though that she’ll never be chosen so she doesn’t have to abandon her career as a thief. She is interested in boys, but she has yet to meet one worthy of her attention.
