At first glance, Crimson Mortifera appears to be an average girl of District One, perhaps with a slightly eccetric style and hair that isn't always neat. Other than that, though, she mostly looks average...from afar, at least. Upon getting a closer look certain things stand out and reflect who she truly is. The scars, for one. The look in her eyes. But we'll touch upon those later.

Crimson's always been rather tall, standing at 5'9. This height is apparently inherited, because the man that is her biological father is tall as well. For the majority of her life it was impossible to distinguish where her height came from, but again, that will be explained at a later time. She was tall as a child as well, reaching her full height by the age of fifteen. She doesn't brag about her height, yet she is not bothered by it either; really it doesn't matter to her in the slightest. She's pretty thin, as well, though this only accentuates the fact that she's got relatively no curves at all. Her skininess and bust size (or lack thereof) is presumably inherited from her mother (well, from the woman who carried her, Crim doesn't think of her as a mother), who is built similarly.

Roughly diamond shaped, edging towards round, Crim's face has mostly soft features, although her sharp, defined chin contradicts that, coming to more of a point than of most chins. Her nose is small and slopes lightly, and her ears are of average size with attatched lobes. The District One female is often mistaken for older than she is simply because of her facial features, which is something she has never really understood. It just has an air of seriousness about it, althogh Crimson is often far from solemn.

Her mouth looks large set in her small face, though she is relatively thin-lipped. One of her fathers has accidentally said before that the woman who mothered her pursed her lips in exactly the same fashion, but Crim had been so angered at the mention of 'mother' that he'd never brought it up again. Her teeth are not a particularly attractive feature of her face; they're straight, yes, but her gumline is particularly wide so that when she smiles the pink of her gums is equally as visible as the white of her teeth. And surprisingly, Crimson smiles often, though they are rarely ever true smiles that reach her eyes; most of the time it's just a sick grimace, a sly smirk, or an absentminded grin. She has obvious dimples, though on her they do not look particularly cute or childish.

Equipped with thin, dark brows that arch lightly over them, Crimson's eyes are a bit contradicting to her demeanor. They are not dark like her morbid personality; rather they are an incredibly pale gray, the color of the thin clouds on an overcast day. Her eyes have often been described as mirrors, though this does not hold the meaning one may think; rather than display her own emotions so vividly they reflect others', so that the only thing you can see in those light orbs the color of stone is, well, yourself. It is impossible to tell what Crim is feeling by looking into her eyes, so you can get rid of that notion right away. The expression in them is often as insipid as the color itself, giving the impression that the District One teenager is naught but a blank page full of apathy and nothingness. Not surprisingly, this isn't so.

Her hair seems to exemplify the kind of person she truly is, with its unruly and disheveled ways. Most of the time it is a deep, dark brown, because Crimson has never been one for the various dyes and ridiculous shades some people enjoy. Since she was small she never knew what to do with her hair, nor cared about it very much; being raised by two men did not encourage her to grow to love her disobedient locks. She kept them long until about the age of fourteen, but it was clear that the length did not suit her, or at least that she wasn't willing to work to accomidate it. It was rarely ever brushed, sticking out at all angles with strays and split ends abundant. Perhaps if she'd taken proper care of it it would've been better, but in a bout of frustration one day she'd taken a particular favorite knife of hers with a lovely serrated edge and sheared it off to about her chin. To put it kindly, it looked rather horrible, but Crim didn't give a crap, and ignored the stares she recieved at school as she always did.

Eventually it grew back to its previous length, because she couldn't be bothered to constantly maintain it. It was just a nuisance, hair. Who needed it? If she'd been male she probably would have shaved it all off, but as she was female, and quite proud to be so, she kept it. Hair defined what she was, annoying as she found it to be, and her low regard of the opposite sex prevented her from wanting to look like one. So she let the growing-then-shearing cycle continue on, and it still does today. Currently it's been somewhat recently shorn, but seeing as the mane grows quite fast that is subject to change. It sticks out every which way most of the time, but sometimes when she decides she should actuallly care she makes it look nice, because however unexpected it may seem she does know how to beautify her appearance. It's hardly ever up, though, regardless of the length; she just simply can't be bothered to put it in any sort of updo.

Her skin tone is an average color, slightly tanned not because of sunlight (she's hardly ever outside) but because of genetics. Even so, the tan is not always apparent, and sometimes she appears quite pale. It is also completely unmarked by natural things, not a freckle, not a zit, nothing caused by Mother Nature. She never had the problem with acne that most kids had around the adolescent age, though her appearance suffered in other ways. The lack of freckles is to be expected since she's hardly ever outside, but it seems odd that she was born with no sort of birth mark at all.

To compensate for the natural markings, though, there are numerous amounts of self-inflicted scars snaking across Crimson's skin. The most prominent are on her arms and legs, though she's even gone after her back, stomach, and sides a couple of times. Looking closely, her limbs appear to be striped, there are so many marks crisscrossing them. Yes, she cuts, and quite frequently, although her motives for this will be explained at a later time. She's always sure to clean up, though, so the only time she appears bloody is when she is to occupied to wipe away the scarlet liquid. Eventually all that's left is the puckered, raised line of skin where the cut once was.

Crimson's legs are quite long, accounting for most of her height, and her arms are very lengthy as well. Her hands are of average size, but they're far from delicate; in fact, they're nearly as scarred as the rest of her body. Her feet she normally avoids with the knife, so they're nowhere near as marked up as everywhere else. Sometimes she paints her nails, but more often not, because they don't normally stay clean. She has a tendancy to scratch herself up, as well, so they are often caked with blood.

Getting dressed is always somewhat of an interesting event for Crimson. It isn't that she spends a whole lot of time dwelling on outfits, it's just that they tend to be quite eccentric sometimes because she has a habit of gravitating towards articles of clothing that suit her mood at the time being. For instance, if she's feeling rather pissed at the world she'll wear something edgy, most likely with some form of studs. Sadness will prompt an ensemble of dark colors, and probably something flowy rather than form fitting as well. Of course, bright colors aren't her thing, anyway, so you'll rarely see her sporting yellows or pinks or oranges.

In generic moods, though, she'll probably just wear something simple, like a black t-shirt and jeans with some form of boots. Boots are consistently the only thing she wears on her feet; open toed shoes and sandles irk her, and sneakers she deems unnecessary since she is not an athlete of any kind. So she simply collects all different kinds of boots in various colors and wears them year-round despite the temperature in the summer.

Piercings never repulsed Crimson much, though admittedly she doesn't like the bloodless way they're done in her district. It started when she was seven and wanted to get her ears pierced after seeing it done once. She didn't like how they shot the stud into the ear, though; the more traditional idea of sticking a simple needle straight through the skin appealed much more to her. So she had her fathers give her money, throwing them off with a fake story as usual, and went to buy a pair of earrings. Returning home and sterilizing a needle, (much as she admired blood, infections were not a pleasing thought) she poked it straight through the skin, and the earring went in a moment later. No lightheadeadness, no nausea, no pain, nothing. Just one pierced ear and a lot of glorious scarlet liquid.

To this day she has repeated this piercing procces four times, for three more pairs of earrings on top of the first one and even a little nose ring she quite liked. She's never attempted to pierce any other part of her body, though, and probably never will. She has considered tattoos, although those were something she would not be able to do herself, therefore they were not that appealing of a concept. There are better ways of drawing blood, and Crimson Mortifera has discovered them all.
