Cedred Joyd: District One: Super Original amirite?

The first thing people notice about Cedred is his odd physical attractiveness. He has sort of a careless grace and elegance that only comes naturally to those born with it; the sort of thing that is generally described as "God-given". However, his actual face cannot be described as "handsome" individually. His nose is quite crooked from numerous insistences were an overzealous Career trainee kept fighting after the fight was officially over, and at one point may have been rather Romanesque. The general description of his face can be "thin", "narrow", "sharp" or "angular". With thin lips, a sharp chin, a rather narrow jawline, and high, angular cheekbones, one is often hard-pressed to know whether he's handsome or simply strange looking. Then he smiles, or talks, and it all adds up to a pleasing whole. His hair is auburn, rather shaggy, and falls over his eyes in yet another example of the "casual grace" that makes up much of his apparent attractiveness. His eyes are a rich emerald green, and he has to wear an eyepatch over his right eye from a mishap as a child. He's worn it since he was five.

His metabolism is fast, so he eats whatever he wants without fear of physical reprisal. His naturally athletic in a muscular sense, but he can't run. Overall he's at a sort of middle ground between pale and tan, and he has a few scars from various parts of his life; one on his leg from falling off a stone wall at the zoo, and several from his "psycho retard" of a cat on his inner arms (Some mistake these as signs of past suicide attempts. He sees them as prove his cat is trying to murder him). All around, he's quite muscular; tall, but broad of shoulder, and his muscles are quite impressive, though not outrageously so. Just enough to make it clear he works out.

He likes looking nice with basic articles of clothing, so he rarely looks "formal", but he almost always looks "nice". Sleeveless shirts and jeans are his godsend, and he has a green bandana with a snake pattern on his when he wants to keep his hair back. He never says no to a t-shirt, and tends to wear the same socks over and over again, his only attempt at making them decent being to put a bag of potpourri on them (The kind you put in your dresser drawers to keep your clothes smelling nice). His feet smell awful because of his less than hygienic sock habits.

Cedred has a cheerful demeanor, a dry and sardonic sense of humor, and a habit of giving people rather poetic nicknames like "My raven" or "My dove" or "Little sparrow". He says that his sarcasm is a defense set up from when his parents split up, and few haven't been cut down a few notches due to Cedred's sharp tongue. His humor has become something of a habit, as he's been dared to go a week without saying anything sarcastic; he failed miserably, mainly due to the fact that his friends went out of their way to say and do things worthy of his remarks.

He's straight, though often people think he's gay. They have no explanation, only that he has a "quality". This "quality", he's found, is the nasty habit of saying things like "If I were a guy" and "Don't we look nice all dressed up". When he catches himself, he's horrified, but he has no explanation for these slips. Perhaps to compensate, he's a bit of a womanizer, and an absolutely shameless flirt.

Despite his natural athleticism, he's quite lazy. One has to drag him off whatever bed or sofa he's occupying and force him to be physically active. Once he gets going, however, he's really very talented. He's good with a sword and shield, and decent with a crossbow. However, he can't run, and any attempts to get him to run will be ultimately fruitless. His friend tried to get him into a cardio regimen once and failed miserably when, sick of running, Cedred hailed and cab and drove home rather than run another step with his friend screaming in his ear.

He holds a very practical view on life, and doesn't believe in God or ghosts. However, he's not unwilling to use the superstitions and faiths of people to get out of doing things he doesn't want to do (Complaining about running on Sunday, for insistence, by whining that Sunday is "God's day"). He's quite booksmart about the things he cares about, and is incredibly fond of history, which he excitedly says is "like a story". He wants to be a freelance writer when he grows up.

Despite his tendency to be a bit harsh, he naturally falls into the role of mentor and older brother to anyone younger than him. In these cases, he's infinitely patient and encouraging; it's a rather incredible transformation.

Cedred grew up in a large, dysfunctional family with six younger siblings, a workaholic father, and an incredibly overbearing, germaphobic mother. His parents fought constantly about anything they could think of, leaving Cedred to do a lot of the little things for his siblings, like help with homework, tuck them in and read bedtime stories, and remind them to brush their teeth. After his oldest sister, who was only a year younger than him (thirteen at the time) was reaped and killed in the Games, his parents marriage shattered. They divorced, and split the children like they did the possessions.

He now lives with his mother, two of his siblings, his thirteen year old brother and his fifteen year old sister, and his grandfather in a fairly large house. He shares a room with his brother, and his grandfather acts as a father figure to him, while he acts as a father figure to his brother and sister. His grandfather was a Career, and has been training Cedred to be a Career since he (Cedred) was twelve.

He's trained in using a sword and shield, a crossbow, and unarmed combat. He helps younger Career trainees learn how to fight, and has many friends among the older Careers. He has two cats (one granny cat and a "psycho retard" boy kitten) and a border collie puppy named Deak who's "only marginally crazy".
