Age: 15
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 1
Appearance:
At first glance, Sylis Carnassien appears vulnerable; there’s nothing dangerous about the doll-like figure who doesn’t look over thirteen years old. Her skin is pale, but not unusually so, comparable to light pine wood. She isn’t particularly attractive – her round little face doesn’t have any distinctive features, though her eyebrows are a little thick and her nose is turned up a bit at the end. Sylis’ eyes are almost almond-shaped and a dark shade of hazel. She isn’t any taller than five-foot-three-inches. Her brownish-gold hair is kept short, the longest strands just past her shoulders; it’s usually worn in a tight bun.Personality:
Everything about her life, she’s tailored to the Hunger Games; one of her favorite strategies Sylis likes to see the contestants use is ‘wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing’. After all, you can play childish and innocent, and they never see you wedge the dagger in their back. She binds her chest to appear younger; the younger you are, the weaker you seem. Sylis’ arms and legs seem thin, but in nearly every movement she makes you can see the wiry muscles coiled just under her skin.
Sylis dresses plainly for a District One child: clean white dress shirts, often long-sleeved, with long colorless skirts or pants. Decoration is rare, usually in the form of an unobtrusive choker of pearls or a slim silver bracelet decorated with the same gems.
A viper in a caterpillar’s hairs, really. Although her appearance is unassuming, Sylis is a vicious little creature; cold, arrogant, and spiteful. She’s a ‘career’ to the core, spending whatever extra time she has training for a Hunger Game that will probably never come for her. When she first meets someone, Sylis will assess their usefulness and treat them accordingly; she can be sweet and persuasive when she wants to be, and at other times is a little brat with her nose too high in the air to see the wreckage she’s walking in. The District One teenager is clever, never losing a chance to show off said intelligence. That she’s obnoxious, vain, and aggressive, there’s no doubt. She hasn’t shown any interest in boys yet; she lacks in genuine charisma.History:
Perhaps the one human being that she shows a scrap of good will to is her brother, her twin, Royce. They’ve trained together since they were five; he’s the one person she might, might just confide in when she’s feeling vulnerable. She might even show the occasional bit of honest charm to him. True, Sylis still rants, rages, and throws things at him, but the destructive girl never means it. She’s just lucky she has someone who understands that.
Growing up in one of the nicer areas of District One, Sylis can count the times she’s been truly hungry on one hand. Her parents managed to keep enough food on the table for their children; her father, Carib, seemed to have a knack for picking out the best raw materials, and Jisiv, her mother, was careful and made sure to keep on the Peacemakers’ good sides.Codeword: <edit by aya>
When she and her twin, Royce, were born, Sylis was the weaker one from the start. The one who always got second best; instead of grudging Royce for the attention he got, he was her first friend. After all, Royce never challenged her – and once Sylis could show off her intelligence to Carib and Jisiv, she was the one getting the attention.
At age five, Carib began subtly training his daughter and son for the Hunger Games, turning Sylis into a classic Career. After watching her first Hunger Game, the girl had been entranced: the energy, the drama, the surprise…
And the bloodshed, of course.
Every year of childhood brought new proficiency at fighting; she could climb and run faster than Royce, and nearly matched him in endurance. By the time she was eleven, Sylis was good with standard weapons like knives and spears, as well as hand to hand combat.
She was a little nervous about her first Reaping - after all, if her name was drawn at barely twelve years old, she knew she wasn’t going to last long – but she dodged that bullet.
The years began melting into each other – nothing really mattered to the porcelain snake but training, endless sessions of training with Royce. She favored knives and nooses, and as another Hunger Game missed her, Sylis realized that no matter how time she spent training, she’d still be waiting…

I'll also have her twin, Royce, as a character; I'll post his bio soon after some tweaking. ^-^;;
