Name: Abalance Remis D'Borgia
Age: 17
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 10

"The complexity of an individual is something that is difficult to explain. So please excuse me if in this short, but frank description of myself is not adequate for you to find the answers to the questions you have about my character. It is the best I can do without somehow letting you probe my mind. However, between you and I, I don't believe I'd want anyone probing my mind. Especially not myself. Who knows what havoc that would wreak.
I like to see myself as independent. I don't need much compared to others in the desire for a social life. I am content reading a book or engaging myself in a difficult physics equation rather than spending my nights forming social connections that will tear and fade as time progresses. The few friends I have I enjoy the company of, but I like to think we have an understanding that our 'relationship' is something that I do not wish to engage in a high frequency. The terms of such an understanding is one of the many things in our society that we choose to not speak of freely. I cannot say that my opinion of such closed thoughts are in my high regard.
I am not a person of superstition. It may seem harsh, but I find that it more pleasurable to know that sadness and hurt will come no matter what we do. Believing in things such as a divine being or knocking on wood will prevent the more depressing aspects of life has never proven to help anyone, and history seems to show that such beliefs often result in the pain of others more often than in internal happiness. I find my own comfort in logic, in rationalizing a situation so that I may make it favorable. Of course, not everything may be turned to one's favor...
And though I may seem haughty in the way that speak of making things work in my favor, I am not without my own fair share of flaws. Though I may appear calm to others (at least that is what I am told I appear as), I am very susceptible to emotions of all sorts. It is part of the reason I tend to avoid extended social interaction. Love, in whatever form it may come, is a dangerous thing. It is highly unstable, even deadly at times. I am unsure if toying with such a powerful force is worth the risk..." -Abalance D'Borgia[/blockquote]History:

Appearance:
Not many people could find someone like Abalance to stick out in a crowd. This one-hundred and fifty-two pound male stands a little over five-foot ten with a medium, slightly trimmed build. His body is not out of shape by any means, but there certainly isn't a six pack hiding under this teenager's generally formal clothing. The teen has never seen the reasoning behind training himself to be ready for extremely strenuous physical activity, unless he should be reaped for the Hunger Games.Personality:
The only thing truly defining about Abalance is his face. Medium-toned brown hair is cut to a short length, falling just short of covering his ears or his eyes. The mathematician likes being able to see into the depths of the universe without having to move troublesome hair every few minutes. He does this with the help of dark green eyes (two of them. What a surprise!). The eyes are set back into a cleanly shaven face with a stern chin. The entirety of Abalance's face gives him a look of a leader, despite whatever his true demeanor might be.
Abalance is typically seen in some type of formal attire, such as a dress shirt and slacks. However, on days where he knows he shall be traveling a fair amount, the teenager chooses to sport a sweatshirt and jeans. Though he might not care much for what is "in style" or "fashionable", Abalance recognizes nobody can take a man seriously who does not look respectable.

The life of a child is something that is usually celebrated, even revered to a certain extent. However, when the conception of a child happens when neither party responsible for the act wishes for such a thing, how is the life of the child treated then? Though it is sad, the truth of the matter is that the life of an unwanted child is often painful, depressing, and even morally unjust at times. Such is the case of one unwanted child in District 10, Abalance D'Borgia.Codeword: Muttations
The D'Borgia couple had been together for two years when Alice told her companion that she was pregnant. The reaction was not pretty, and both of them came to a quick agreement they could not support a child, nor could they invest the time into raising a new human life. However, abortion was (and still is) illegal in the District. The couple knew that they were stuck with their child, no matter how they played it. Simply abandoning a baby at birth would ruin their reputations. It was with this fact, the couple decided they would take care of their child (despite their own will).
Abalance D'Borgia came into the world on a cool autumn day. It had been a rough nine months on the parents, but they had managed to sustain a perfect pregnancy. Their child was born in less than an hour, and was quickly registered as a healthy infant. They were out of the hospital within the next day. The two scientists made sure to take care of the little Abalance for the next two years, until it was time for the child to take the first test of intelligence.
The "perfected" Standford-Binet Intelligence Quotient Test for Infants (IQI) measured a young child's ability to analyze and perform other cognitive functions. The average score was anywhere between the range of 110 and 130 for District 10. Abalance managed to score an astounding 167. Though the child was only two years old, he was showing a large amount of aptitude. Intelligence was the most important trait of a person in District 10.
It was from this point Abalance was pushed to the realm of physics. His cognitive abilities were stimulated so that he would progress faster than his peers. By the time the young D'Borgia was seven, he was solving basic quadratics and trigonometry. Within another 2 years of that, the child had moved on to Pre-Calculus. It had seemed that this unwanted birth had spawned a genius that District 10 had not seen in many, many years.
However, despite the child's advanced intelligence level, his emotional capacity was as normal as ever. Abalance needed to play and make friends like any other growing human on the planet. His parents, in the quest of seeking to raise the next super-genius of District 10, had made sure their son was rather... incompetent in terms of emotion.
When the child hit puberty, his growing desire for companionship was met with rejection and laughter to his awkward ways of approaching a social situation. It was from this that Abalance retreated into the realm of math and science.
Now recently seventeen, the child has grown into almost an adult. He seeks a position as a researcher of quantum physics. However, what fate has in store might be something completely different. Only time will tell!
