Appearance:
The first impression of Kareem Illysis Sullivan? Average. Her most dominant physical trait is her hair. She has long, wavy, strawberry blond hair. It hangs well below her shoulders, resting on top of her chest. She always leaves it down, only putting it up in a ponytail if she is doing some kind of exercise, or working.Personality:
Next are her eyes. Her right eye has a green-blue color, and as you get closer to the pupil, it begins to look yellow. The simple word is hazel. Sadly, she is blind in her left eye. White film covers her eye, making it appear cloudy. Her eye condition is called Glaucoma, and it was caused by a head injury. (Look at History)
Her blind eye makes her appear unattractive and disgusting, often causing others to gag or shy away from talking to her. Some can't even look at her, which is partially why she can't look others in the eye.
Her skin tone is in between white and pale. She stands at about 5'8, which isn't too tall, nor is it too short. She weighs about 140. Her lips are of a medium size, not too big, and not too small, and she mostly appears sad. Her hips aren't very wide, and her chest is fairly small.
Her attire consists of black skirts and dark colored t-shirts. She wears white shoes and white socks. She has a necklace that has a black owl in front of a white moon hanging on the end. She wears no make up.
Kareem is a traumatized and disturbed child. In a simple sentence, she is anti-social, and is a very angry girl.History:
I'll start with her anti-social behavior. Simply put, she is afraid of people. She is afraid of the kids she goes to school with, her distant relatives, and she can't even speak to animals. Talking is difficult for her, and she has extreme trouble looking at people in the eye. She is afraid of being rejected, so she chooses not to open up to others, in fear of being tossed aside and despised.
Next, we have her anger. She suffers from Intermittent Explosive Disorder, which causes her to lose her temper very easily. She can and will get mad at anything that even sounds like it could be a threat or an insult. She can even go ballistic if she thinks of something that angers her, often causing her to hurt someone or break things.
Although she feels unloved by her family, (when in reality, they do) she loves them. She has two brothers who are similar to her, and a loving mother. Her father is deceased. (Long story) Her step-father is in prison. (Another story)
Although depressed and angry, Kareem is brilliant. She pays attention in school, making straight A's on everything. She's a thinker. She thinks all the time about anything.
Her family tries to talk to her (and are very careful as to what they say), and she will listen and sometimes give more than a one-worded reply. Her mother is the closest thing she has to a friend, and Kareem can talk to her, but the fear of rejection is still there. She would fight for her mother and brothers, and that's it.
Kareem was born is District 10 to brilliant parents. A loving mother, and a half-caring, messed up father, and since that day, her life has been one hell of a ride.Codeword: Muttations
As a baby, her mother tended to her every need, and was always around, yet her father was always busy with work, and when he was home, he payed no attention to her because he didn't want a little girl. He was happy with his two boys.
As she grew into the little girl stage, arguments and fights became more frequent between her parents. A few more years went on, and the fighting became more serious, as it was usually about how he had nothing to do with his daughter. Her father soon turned to drinking to calm the nerves, and his drinking lead to drugs. That's when her life took a turn for the worse.
Her father became emotionally abusive to her mother, paying no attention to her and yelling over nothing. He became indifferent toward his sons too, who were greatly affected by his rejection. He still paid no attention to Kareem.
One day, he came home drugged up, wanting to sleep with her mom. She refused, so he raped her. Kareem went insane and began to scream at her father, hitting him and pushing him around. He grabbed her by the face and slammed the back of her head into a wall, knocking her out, and later causing Glaucoma, which caused her to go blind in one eye. Her mother filed for divorce right after it was evident he was too dangerous to be around her or her kids, and it was settled quickly, but it doesn't end there.
Kareem and her family were now seriously damaged, physically and emotionally. Her mother soon met a man who was extremely caring toward her, her mother, and her brothers. While her mother was learning to love again, Kareem didn't trust the man, and didn't want anyone else in her life. She didn't want to talk to him, and she was afraid of him.
Her mother married the man after knowing him for some time, and it was a happy marriage, but Kareem continued to grow more anti-social and the temper became more frequent. Her real father tormented her thoughts day and night. Her step-father learned everything from her mother and it made him extremely angry.
The real father stalked her family, and it soon became dangerous when he was violating his restraining orders and approaching her and the boys. The step-father became extremely depressed because of what he had done to his new wife and children, so one night he met the man, and then he violently murdered him. He was sent away to prison for his crime, and they couldn't see him anymore, which sent her brothers farther into depression, as well as her mother.
Now, Kareem is extremely anti-social. The events of her life have caused her to become angry very easily. It's even so common that she can't remember that she throws a tantrum. She still pays attention is school, finding it the only thing to distract her from the angst of her life.
