izzard reddlewood
- - - - - - -
He's in District 12.
And he's part of the Seam.
He is no coal miner.
He is no worker.
He only sits, at 23 years of age, suffering from paranoia.
Suffering only from the fear that a secret will be found.
And he's part of the Seam.
He is no coal miner.
He is no worker.
He only sits, at 23 years of age, suffering from paranoia.
Suffering only from the fear that a secret will be found.
Think of me when you're out, when you're out there
I'll beg you nice from my knees
When the world treats you way too fairly
It's a shame i'm a dream

Izzard Reddlewood is one to try to be normal but extensively fail. However, for his appearance, normality of the twelfth district's standards is something that he succeeds at. Being a part of the Seam, it's expected that his clothes aren't of the highest quality, usually being rags and/or hand-me-downs. At home, he's most likely either not seen, or seen with clothes two sizes too small for him and shoes that leave his toes hanging out. Truly, he cares, he cares about his appearance like a mother cares for her child, but he knows it's something that he cannot change, and so he doesn't try to.
When he is seen, though, you can expect nothing more than a t-shirt and a pair of jeans. If there is to be a special occasion, such as a funeral or the Reaping, you could expect formal clothes that've been around since Izzard was in his mother's stomach. There's one single outfit that he always tends to wear, however, despite the other clothes that he may have. It's a green t-shirt; with buttons sewn on the shirttail. The buttons are different colors, ranging from a darker green than the shirt fabric to an ash white color. Going with the shirt, though, you'll see only a black pair of thick fabric. It's soft, and not too tight, but it's not so loose that it's falling off his waist. The fabric has a slight stretch in it, so if he were to eat too much [which is highly unlikely considering his District], he'd have room to grow.
Despite Izzard's clothes, his appearance can be ironic in some sorts. He's always had a slightly larger build than his friends, who seem to be invisible when viewed from the side. It's not that he has a larger amount of food intake, because that's definitely not the case, but his build has always been a more husky figure rather than the pencil thin body type all the other Seam inhabitants have. His head seems to be larger than his acquaintance's, his body seems to be larger than his acquaintance's, and his legs seem to be thicker than his acquaintance's. Overall, he's stocky without reason.
His hair is short, no part of it being longer than any others. If there were to be any changes in length, though, it would have to be near the hairline on the forehead, for it's growth rate seems to be faster than the other parts of his hair. It's a dark chocolate color, resembling mud after a downpour. It's rarely cleaned, but it's mainly due to the lack of hot water his family has. If you were to run your fingers through it, the oil produced by it would leave it in the position it was put into when you combed it.
Izzard's eyes are a brown color, straying from the usual grey or blue eyes that most of the District 12 people have. Whether this is a good or bad thing is to be decided by the ones who see them, but Izzard himself sees them as a flaw. Izzard Reddlewood wishes to be normal in any way possible, and having a different eye color is doing nothing for him. His eyebrows are thin but still clearly visible. Instead of having a normal arch, however, they tend to be a very slight parabola that are nearing being strictly horizontal but still can be seen as normal.
His nose has a slight bridge to it, but it's mainly due to injuries that have broken the bone and permanently bent it in the wrong direction. The tip of the nose seems to be slightly upward instead of downward, so a small glance of his nostrils are always visible. It's lengthy rather than short, so a large portion of his face is taken up by his nose. Though it isn't monstrous, it's not that small, either.
Thankfully, his lips are normal. Of course, there's always the obstructions of fever blisters and chapped lips, but to say the least, they're normal. They're not plump, they're not overly red, they're not always seemingly moist, the upper lip isn't bigger than the bottom lip and the bottom lip is only the smallest bit bigger than the upper lip. However, during cold weather, the pink color turns to an almost white.
His arms are big but weak. Though his arms are long, they're not lanky, and even though they my be big in circumference, it doesn't mean it's all muscle. Perhaps it's fat, or perhaps his bones are larger than they need to be, but either way, it definitely isn't small.
For his legs, they seem to be the most normal out of his appearance. That is, if you were to ignore all the other body parts that he has. His legs seem to be skinny, they seem to be the body part that fits in with all of his friends's bodies. They're thin, and though they may be disproportionate to the rest of his appearance, they're like a missing puzzle piece to everyone else's that live in the seam. A course hair lines them, though it's more abundant on the thighs rather than the calves.
His actual body; his torso, seems to be a complete square. It looks awkward, and though it's larger than others, and while others may be jealous of Izzard's large size, they are not jealous of his torso. His breasts are flat while his stomach is a little bulgy, and his hips seem to curve in rather than go straight down. His shoulders, while they might be broad, are exactly in line with the width of his waste, creating an awkward appearance that tends to make people jealous of his overall size, but not his actual appearance.
For flaws of his appearance, other than the most obvious ones, we'll know that he's covered in small moles all over his body. While they are spread out, they do seem to be on at least each of the four sections of the body [arms/hands, feet/legs, torso, head]. The most predominant one, however, is on his right shoulder. It's actually large enough that you can see it through a shirt, which causes him to usually double up his shirts because he finds the moles humiliating.

Izzard Reddlewood is to say the least, a paranoid person. Paranoid that his secret will be found and he'd be killed due to the hatred that he'd receive. You see, Izzard is gay. He's homosexual; he likes boys. From the age of 13 he's been attracted to boys. His first crush -- or first real crush -- was on a boy named Arthur. Arthur was Izzard's everything. Arthur had black hair, black hair that stuck up in the front. Arthur had red cheeks, permanent red cheeks that Izzard thought was adorable. Author was the type of boy that everyone liked, from the depressed ones that wished they'd die to the ones that thought that they could grow up and be their own planet. Arthur was nice to Izzard, seeming to be the only one, and so Izzard became attracted.
Of course, he was confused at first. Why was he getting butterflies when Arthur passed his desk to go sharpen a pencil? Why would Izzard laugh hysterically at every joke that Arthur made no matter how funny it actually it was? Why would Izzard's eyes lock on his as he scanned the classroom for answers to a test? He wasn't sure to think of the feelings, and once he finally set his mind on a crush; he was distraught. He knew he had a crush on a boy, but he most definitely did not like it. Those words would be tossed around at school, and it got brandished into Izzard's mind that being gay meant either a living hell or an actual hell.
This led him to start to ignore Arthur, which upset him, and when Izzard was finally confronted, at the age of 15, it went a little like this:------"We used to be best friends, dude. Now you won't even look at me. What's up?"
"Uh. I'm not sure. I just thought we had better things t'do, ya' know."
"Better things? All I remember is waking up one day to realize that my best friend was no longer a friend at all."
"I'm sorry then. I don't even know what I'm supposed to say. Sorry? Let's retry? How about that? Does that sound good?"
Truly, both of the boys were absolutely enraged, but Izzard tried not to show it while Arthur's attitude shown through like a white light in a pitch dark room.
"No. What sounds good is a dose of reality. How about your new friends just stop talking to you completely? How about they just act like you're not even there? What if you were me and you went to sleep every night thinking that when you woke up, you'd actually have a real friend to talk to? Somebody that you could trust instead of some slouch that only likes you because you're popular?"
You might think that Izzard should've been sympathetic; felt sorry, but his blood began to bubble; bubble like water put directly on a 1,000 degree metal plate. Whether or not this meant that he would do something stupid, like hit Arthur or confess the real reason, he didn't know, but whatever he was going to do would be out of his control.
"Just shut up."
"Sure. I'll do that right after this."
And then Arthur kissed Izzard. The anger that Izzard had didn't allow him to realize what was actually happening, nor did he afterwards, but after he got home realization had set in. There'd been a girl that'd seen them in the alleyway, that had to be courteous enough to stop and yell a "Faggots!" towards Arthur and Izzard's way.------
At home, he'd cried. He'd skipped a whole week of school from the fear that'd been put into him by that one single girl. He'd refused to talk to his dad about it, he'd refused to talk to his mom about it, re'd refused to talk to his sisters about it, and still he does.
On that one single night of Izzard's first kiss, he'd been doomed with a lifetime of denial and paranoia.
When he'd finally decided that he could go to school again, Arthur didn't share one look with him, nor did Izzard want him to. The girl that'd caught them kissing luckily didn't attend his school, and so the risk of walking into a thousand questions about his sexuality was greatly lessened. However, this did not stop Izzard from being paranoid to the utmost extent.
He was silent that day at school, not sharing a word with anyone. Not even the teachers, who seemed to speak to only him throughout the whole day.------
When Izzard reached 20, his mom, Pistol, decided that it was time for him to move out. Izzard only sat in his room, on his bed, rocking back and forth and thinking of what could possibly happen if someone were to find out that he was gay and that he'd kissed Arthur 5 years ago. Lotus, Izzard's dad, being one to agree with everything that Pistol said, decided that it was time for him to move out as well, and so Izzard did. Along with his move, though, came a 7 year old sister named Cattail. Cattail was the only one that Izzard felt he could talk to and never be looked at funny. Cattail was the only family member he felt the most himself around; even occasionally cracking jokes when his parents were out of the house and he'd been left to babysit.
They'd moved to an abandoned house in the Seam, leaving behind a semi-wealthy family that could afford most things. During the 5 years that Izzard's denial and paranoia truly developed, his parents grew further and further away from him, until they were virtually no one. Izzard finally decided that he needed to have some type of life, thinking that he could get his mind off of things if he actually got a job.
Eventually, he got a job at a bakery, making ends meet with Cattail and himself. After a year, the family that ran the bakery fired him because they thought that his attitude was sour and unfriendly. It was then that Izzard Reddlewood knew that he had to tell Cattail that he was gay, so that she would have some understanding in all of his awkwardness, in all of his fear that he always had.
And when he told her, she simply replied, "I know." And when she explained, she told him that it was only an instinct, and that she truly didn't know, but that she thought she did, which in turn made her say that she knew even though she actually didn't.
And after Izzard saw that Cattail could have cared less, he felt tons better. And now, at 23, his paranoia ables him to walk outside occasionally, and even talk to some strangers, even boys, who he always thought were more judgmental than girls. Cattail hunts as much as possible, a self-taught hunter, and is the one thing that keeps both herself and Izzard alive.odair
