Appearance:
[SKIN]Personality:
“I’m almost a vampire.”
Due to her dislike of the outdoors, Callie is always pale as one can be. Her skin isn’t snow white but it comes pretty close as she refuses to go outside most days. Due to her pale skin, the small scars she gets from her falls and tumbles are more noticeable because of their bright pink color. Due to her days as a child where her parents always toted her around in the sun, she has numerous freckles on arms and face. She isn’t too fond of these but cannot face the thought of cosmetic changes, so she leaves them.
[FACE]
“It’s so…Squishy.”
Callie’s face is round and her cheeks are smooth. Overall, she looks like someone made a perfect circle of flesh and placed it on her neck. She isn’t too fond of the lack of edges and the way her face is made in particular. Her nose is small and her eyes are a bit far-set. She’s pretty but not exceedingly so and Callie doesn’t try. The girl owns almost no make-up and has no desire for any altering surgeries like those insane people in the Capitol. She would rather remain herself and not be happy with her face then change her looks.
[EYES]
“They are the only gateway to emotion.”
Callie’s eyes are soft green in color and are set a bit far on her head. She calls the distance between her eyes ‘The Gap’, which isn’t rightfully earned but Callie uses it anyways. Her eyes are the only source of emotion in the expressionless girl. She has a hard time hiding what is in her eyes and to work on this, Callie wears glasses. They are thick framed and often a bit foggy, hiding her eyes from the sight of others. She does truly have an eyesight problem for she is nearsighted but her family could afford contacts if she wanted.
[HAIR]
“Golden locks? Pffft, yeah right.”
And golden locks she has indeed. Her hair is long and falls in small ringlets, the color is a pretty gold. It is too bad that Callie doesn’t show it off. Instead, she would rather shove it all into a hair tie and call it done. Many times she has contemplated cutting it off but she is always interrupted by her mom, who refuses to comply. So, instead she just doesn’t try very hard to keep it in perfect shape. She washes it every day but does not give any extra effort. So, instead of those ringlets, her hair is a bit frizzy and the curls have become unmanageable. Instead of dealing with it, Callie puts it in a pony and ignores it.
[BUILD]
“I’m healthy, that’s all that matters.”
Callie isn’t super-model skinny but she doesn’t have excessive fat either. She keeps herself at a nice weight, with enough muscle to keep her going and enough fat as protection. Callie has a small pudge of a stomach and has some weight to spare around her thighs. Overall though, the girl is quite happy about her build, despite hating everything else about herself. Callie would rather get to eat what she wants rather than watch every single food that goes into her mouth. That keeps her from being the sticks her mother and sister are.
[SCARS]
“Almost none to be seen.”
Which is true. Most of the scars that Callie possesses can be found her lower leg, knees, and hands. The ones on her legs are often from her many tumbles. Callie is not the most agile person in the world and can often be found tripping over a flat surface. That has caused many cuts and scraped knees over the years, leaving her knees almost entirely a bright pink in color. The scars on her hands, more specifically her fingers, are from constant pricking. Obsessed with science, she often likes to observe her own blood and do experiments. She never truly cuts herself but instead produces enough blood from her finger tips to put on a slide. This has led to a bunch of small, pinprick scars on the tips of her fingers.
[OTHER]
“Don’t be surprised.”
Callie is ambidextrous and can do every equally with both hands. She had found this quite useful for whenever she took notes or was doing research. She could write at an equal speed with both hands at the same time. She finds this a very prized talent and is constantly trying to improve it. Callie is also flat-footed which causes her to walk on her toes. She often does not notice this terrible trait. Instead, she only notices the pain that it causes her but she chooses to ignore it instead of fixing it.
[AMBITIOUS]History:
“No one stands between me and my goal.”
Goals are important to Callie. They keep her on track and keep her moving toward her ultimate dream. She wants to become a doctor so most of her goals are aimed towards that. Whether it be from determining her blood type on her own to reading a whole collection of medical journals, she will not rest until it is done. Callie will also not let anyone stand her way or distract her. That is why, besides those that are another step towards her dream, she will avoid most people. Friends are useless and love even more so. She believes that not meeting anyone is a good way to stay on top of her goals but rather, it’s the opposite.
[CAUTIOUS]
“Everybody lies.”
Callie doesn’t trust anyone so in return, no one trusts Callie. She believes that giving your blind faith to someone will end in your imminent demise. Trust is nothing but a petty word to describe one leaning on another. She doesn’t believe in giving her trust to anyone but herself because she believes that in the end, she will be the one getting burned. Due to this, she doesn’t speak lightly to anyone and will creep around others to avoid contact. The little contact, the less trust, and the less likely she is going to go down in flames. Her reasons are justified, right?
[DEPENDABLE]
“I will get it done.”
Despite her lack of trust in anyone, Callie is truly someone that can be trusted with projects. She will get it done and she believes that nothing is out of her ability. Her grades are one of the most important things to this girl and she will do the entire project herself if it gets a better grade then working with someone else. Other than that, if someone entrusts this girl with a job, she will get it done. No questions will be asked and it will be done in a timely manner. That is why Callie believes that she could be a good doctor. She would stay on top of her duties and would never let one of her patients down.
[GRUMPY]
“Get lost.”
Callie hates talking to other people. When someone tries to get near her, she will snap at them and force them to take a step back. Her nature isn’t entirely too friendly and would rather be alone. Because of this, she shoves away anyone who tries to get too close. Her heart is a bit of an ice block that needs lots of time and heat to melt. She also has a hard time wording her sentences to filter out her opinions, so her harsh speak also adds to this trait. Callie seems to have no social grace when it comes to speaking with others.
[LONELY]
“I feel that there is something missing.”
Despite all of Callie’s don’t trust anyone, never get close to anyone nonsense, she does feel that something is missing. Her hours alone in her room, reading and doing research, she feels a longing for something that she cannot define. This frustrates her and she is constantly seeking the answer and never finding it. That is because she doesn’t let anyone near her. Eventually, she should discover what she is missing is interaction with others and she will try to find friends. Except, when she tries to find friends, her years alone will have left her without any social skills to speak of.
[INFANCY]Codeword: Muttations
Callie was the first child of a young couple in District Two. Both were doctors and met on the job. Her mother is a plastic surgeon and travels between District Two and the Capitol performing surgeries. Her father is a simple physician and does most of his work inside the district. She was born around four years after they met and wed. As a small child, Callie was spoiled and toted around behind her parents like a trophy.
As she grew into her toddler years, her parents prepared to have their second child. That ended up being Callie’s younger sister, Michaela. The two were around three years apart. Michaela became her parent’s favorite, and replaced Callie as their overwhelming sense of affection. This left little Callie in the cold and she learned to be a more self-sufficient child when her parents would not pay any attention to her.
[CHILDHOOD]
By the age of seven, Callie was already burying herself in any book she could find. She was also awfully fond of the medical journals that were on her parent’s shelves. She lacked any interest in going outside and playing with the other children. Instead, she would rather spend hours thumbing through pages of medical nonsense. Her sister on the other hand grew into a little diva. Michaela remained the favorite of the two parents and was doted on while Callie was left to her own devices. This didn’t bother the elder sister and she preferred that her family left her alone.
At age ten, her parent’s fighting increased into yelling and the occasional slap. At that time, Michaela turned away from her parents’ loud voices and into the arms of Callie. That was the closest that the sisters had ever been, the older daughter protecting the younger. Eventually, the two split, leaving the two girls in the custody of their mother. While Michaela went to see her father, Callie was never too close to him and rarely went to see him.
[PRESENT]
Since their parents’ split, the two sisters grew apart again. Michaela returning to the world of shopping and fashion with her mother while Callie returned to her books. It is a rare occasion that the two sisters will speak to each other or spend time in the same room. Callie does not see much of her family, preferring to eat in her room and avoiding ‘family bonding’ which is her mother’s excuse to go shopping for her two daughters.
Callie also lacks any true friends, preferring to only have a few acquaintances that she can turn to if she needs anything. Other than that, the girl usually ends up alone in her room. When she does leave the house, it is usually to go to a store and to eat, which still isn’t that often. She is just a lonely little child.
