Age: Sixteen
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 4
Appearance:
Slight, and on the thin side, Aveleen clocks in at a mere five feet and one inch, in her bare feet. Her face is heart-shaped and framed by waves and curls of coppery red. Her features are delicate and her nose is slightly aquiline with a smattering of freckles across its bridge. Her lips are a pale pink and are frequently chapped by the ocean's salt water. Her wide eyes are a slate blue with brown lashes and brown, arched brows.
Aveleen has a small shoulder span, with an exposed clavicle, and small, round breasts. Her hands are small, and her fingers slender. She can bend her thumbs back to her wrist. Her waist is ill-defined, and her hips are wide, though her buttocks is flat. She has knobbly knees and small feet. Her back is a wide expanse of pale white skin, punctuated by vertebrae, and a perfectly round mole near the base of her spine.
Her delicate build adds up to a not very athletic girl, though she can hold her own at swimming, and is not, altogether, unattractive. She is severely prone to sunburning and freckles; her pale skin easily draws a blush, and the salty air and humidity have done something of a number on her curly hair.
She dresses plainly, because her family can't afford much more, but she longs for pretty things, and she can often be seen with a flower behind her ear, or a daisy chain around her neck. It makes her feel pretty, but also different then the others in their equally drab clothes.
Personality:
The first thing you would likely notice about Aveleen is that she is shy. Aggressively so. She is reticent and untrusting, and takes ages to get to know people. This can lead people to assume her unfriendly, and in some ways, she is, and it makes her feel more secure to be that way. She is terrified of getting to know anyone too well, for fear they will be taken away from her.
Inqusitive, and always suspicious of others, she regards strangers as dangerous to the way of life she has carefully established. Living in Panem makes a person grow old before their time, Aveleen is no exception; she is mature beyond her sixteen years. She is wise and bookish, and with those she knows well, gentle and sweet. She is not easily agitated and is generally calm.
Learning is her dearest love, and in a perfect world she would become a teacher; in District Four, she will likely lead the same life as her mother, a cleaning woman for the rest of her days. As a product of her upbringing, Aveleen is not particularly optimistic, nor is she very political. She accepts her life for what it is.
She is independent and determined and she relies only on herself. She is the sort of person who enjoys being alone, and when she is alone, can be very different. She daydreams and has vivid imaginings when she's off on her own, sailing or swimming, though she would not dare to show this side of her in public.
History:
Aveleen's father, Eros Donaher is first mate on a mid-size fishing vessel in the waters off the coast of District Four. Her mother, Rilla Donaher, cleans the homes of those wealthy enough to pay her. Aveleen and her fourteen-year-old brother, Benson, were largely left alone during their childhood, and Aveleen, as is usual, became a motherly figure to her younger brother, albeit as motherly as she can be. They are not wealthy, but with the combined income of Eros and Rilla, they get by.Codeword: <img src="http://i41.tinypic.com/16h2ibt.png">
For the majority of their lives, Aveleen and Benson have attended the local grade school, learning about the ocean, marine life, and sailing. Benson has taken quite an interest in it, particularly caring for marine life, but when he's sixteen, he too will have to join the ranks of fishermen. Aveleen hasn't really found an interest in the topics they teach at school, but she does perk up when they begin to talk about history, and she enjoys writing in class, even if it is just about salmon. Besides picking up the occasional odd job at the fish market, Aveleen largely spends her days alone, or with her brother.
Their father is saving for the day when he might own his own boat, but that day is not soon in coming. Their mother's parents were rebels who were executed when she was just twelve. Like Aveleen, she is self-reliant and distant and so the children have always been closer to their father, who is, himself, a bit of a drunk, but a loving one at that.
Besides her family, Aveleen has yet to grow close with anyone from the District. She's not open enough to make any close friendships, and no one has put in the effort to get to know and be trusted by her.
