Annabelle Grand, District 6

Anna has pale blond hair and brown eyes. She stands at about 4'9" and has a slim, and mildly curvy, figure.

Depending on her level of mental health that day she can be anywhere from put together to extremely disheveled.

Her voice has a musical quality to it, almost as if she were always somewhere between singing and speaking. It suits her.

Only one word is really needed to describe her. Insane.

Sometimes it's blaringly obvious. She'll talk to people that no one else sees, she'll mutter things that make no sense, she'll start a conversation about things that couldn't possibly be true. Times like these people wonder how anyone could think there was an ounce of sanity in her.

But most of the time it's a quiet insanity. Subtle. It's because of this that many doubt that she is really even insane, or if she is instead just a very strange child.

The truth? Anna herself doesn't really know. She really does hear people talking to her, and most of the time what she says to people is really her way of seeing things. Sometimes, of course, she's just messing with them. It's fun, really, to pretend she is always on the brink of falling over the edge of insanity. And it means people don't expect her to fit in perfectly.

Other than her questionable level of sanity, Anna is a normal teenage girl. She prefers to be social than to be alone. She has a tinkling laugh that she is quick to share with people. She's kind, and honest (mostly) and she just wants to be accepted, though she realized long ago that being accepted was unlikely.

Anna was born unwanted to people unknown. Nobody from the district ever stepped forward to claim her as their child after she was found early one morning in the district square, no more than a few hours old and wrapped in a thin, ragged blanket. The scientists adopted her, turning her into a lab rat. An unwanted child like her was the perfect subject. What, exactly, went on in durring Anna's early childhood is a mystery. She disappeared into the laboratory, and didn't reimerge until she was fourteen years old.

Still, nobody wanted her and the girl was left to fend for herself. She'd been left a large amount of money and a small house to live in by the scientists who had raised her away from the rest of the district society. She had enough to manage. And she'd been taught well in the lab, so she was able to continue schooling. She was not, in any way, helpless.

But there was the question of her sanity. Had the scientists done it to her? Or had she been born that way? There was no way to tell. The only sure thing is that people avoided her. She was too different. She made them question the life they'd always lived.

And so, Anna was left to her own devices. She attended school, shopped, ate, slept, lived alone. It was what she was used to.
