Age: 16
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 9
Appearance:
Rea has thin dirty blonde hair that comes down to the middle of her back. The majority of the time she wears her straight golden hair up in a bun but ever so often she lets it flow over her shoulders. Unfortunately, Rea often forgets that there was this creation called a comb. (When she's out in public, the comments she gets on it describe her as "natty" or "frizzy". Overall her hair looks like a rat sat on her head and had a fight with a cat, some of it sitting at the top of her head in nots, others obeying and staying in the bun she puts it in but getting caught in the band.) Her eyes are a ice blue, often changing to a darker color when she's concentrating because of the (shadows around her.) She has fair Caucasian skin, with a few scars on her arms and legs. She has one in particular scar on her lower back that she doesn't let anyone know about, as well.Personality:
She's petite, her body clearly made for running but as an addition to the power in her legs she has major upper body strength. She has a killer smile, very bright with white teeth... or well, as white as they can without any dental plan. She only owns one pair of shoes and one jacket, both taking on the very dull color of grey. The shoes are torn and whenever she walks anywhere she can feel the water seeping through to her socks. Her jacket is thin, coming down to her knees, and covering her hands. It's long and flimsy but it protects her from some dangers of the weather. Overall she's pretty, but she's not Capitol approved.
A lot of people would describe Rea with one word: leader. She's powerful and regal, and always knows just what to do in a situation. She's a fighter, that's for sure, and she never, ever backs down from a challenge, no matter how silly it may seem at the time.
You know, there are some leader who prevent those bar fight kinda things, but Rea? Well, she's the one starting them, and she always wins. She may seem like she's be weak and easy to beat, but she's stronger than anyone would expect. This girl can sure hold her own.
She hates to share any personal, mush emotions. She hates feeling mushy emotions. e.i. love, sadness... She doesn't even like feeling overly happy sometimes. There are days when she feels sentimental but over all? Rea sticks to her own, relying only on what she herself felt. She's just one hard nut to crack.
History:
Her life in District nine was simple. It was a quiet town, with very few bad people, and where everyone knew one another. Rea grew up a happy person, with two loving parents, an annoying sister, and a puppy. It was a typical family.
-
Age 5: Her fifth birthday was something Rea would never forget. It was the year her parents adopted Evita, a small siberian husky pup.
On the day of her birthday, Real was at home with her sister, aunt, uncle and two cousins. Her parents were on their way home from work. She sat in her room, afraid that her mom and dad had forgotten her birthday. Whenever someone would pass by their house, Rea would look to see if it was her mother but atlas, it wasn't.
After waiting a long time, or what seemed like a long time to her, she heard the laughing of her parents and in walked her mom and dad. They didn't have any presents with them, but Rea figured they'd all be in her parents' room, hidden from sight.
Slowly, the rest of the family made their way over for cake and ice cream, or what they called cake and icecream. They gave Rea gifts with flowery wrapping paper and pink bows. Her parents still hadn't given her the presents from them.
When she got down to her last present, she was so discouraged that her parents hadn't gotten her anything, she refused to open the one in front of her. "Not until my mom and dad tell me they got me something!" She yelled. They all assured her they got her something, and that she'd love it. Still not completely believing them, she half-heartedly opened her last present. It was a book. She hated reading.
Then her dad went outside. When he came back to the door, her mom told her to close her eyes and told everyone else to make noise so she couldn't guess what the present was. Her dad walked in and told her to uncover her eyes. A tiny little puppy stood before her, it's tail wagging with unbridled excitement.
"What's his name?" Rea asked.
"Her name is Evita." Her mom told her. ("But you'll have to be careful because she's a wild dog." she warned, "If Evita ever bites you, ever, you tell mommy or daddy right away." The problem with wild dogs was that citizens were technically not supposed to have them and they were dangerous, even if they were just puppies they still had instincts. "So make sure you keep her out of trouble because she could get killed at any moment. She could be a bad dog.")
"Well, I love her!" Rea exclaimed, and Evita hasn't left her side yet.
-
Age 10: Rea will never forget the night the attacker came to her house. She had just gotten home from school and her mom was preparing an after-school snack, as always.
Her dad was working and her little sister was at her friend's house. Evita was tied up in the backyard. It was Friday, so she'd be there all night. Marisol was thankful for that. But she was also jealous, because none of her friends ever invited her over.
She was thinking about that when someone knocked at the door. They didn't wait for an answer, they just burst through the door, yelling. Rea couldn't tell what he was saying, she could only see the knife she thrust in her face. He pushed her to the ground and went after her mom, swinging the knife in her face. He cut her badly. Enough to kill her. But for some reason, she didn't die right then and there. He hit her head off the counter three times, making her head bleed.
Then he left, making sure to take his knife along. He ran out of the house, leaving Rea scared and crying. Her mom was bleeding and she had no idea what to do. She finally gained her strength and ran out on the street, screaming for her life.
A neighbor heard her screaming and came running out of her house. Rea led her to the bloody scene with tears streaming down her face. Her neighbor sent someone to get the authorities and someone to tell her dad to get home as soon as he could.
The authorities didn't get there for three hours. By the time they had gotten there it was too late.

Age 15: (Rea's family could not easily survive on just her father working. So Rea built up the courage at eleven to start training with knives and at age fifteen she was able to hit targets a ways away. She was as close as it came to a teenage expert.)
Now: Rea doesn't know how to fit in well. She still didn't have many friends and was spending a lot of time with her sister and dad. She is often worried about the Reaping, having to put her name in several more times to get by. Her only friend is her dog, Evita. She tells herself that she'll talk to people and get friends at some point... but that has yet to come.
