Zack Detroff
The sun was stronger in the Arena than it was back home, but Zack made due. Taking off the ridiculous hoodie and tying it around his waist. After running until his endurance punched out Zack rested for a bit, sitting on one of the numerous rocks that dotted the area. As his hand reached into his backpack to do a an inventory on his items, Zack's eyes trailed back, trying to make Enigma appear. Guilt pooled in his stomach, making it churn. He should have waited for her, but ti was too late now. Anyway, Enigma was a smart girl, she could hold her own. Still, he made an alliance with her, he should be with her.
Zack's heart dropped when he pulled out the water jug to find it empty. His eyes gazed out at the landscape, rocks of every size- dry rocks. Rubbing his tongue on the roof of his mouth, Zack looked through his bag some more and was rewarded when his fingers hit the slick tub of sunscreen that sat in the bottom of his bag. Grateful for it, Zack quickly pulled off his shirt which was attracting the heat of sun like a bug is drawn to the light of a flame. With the useless black fabric out of the way, Zack rubbed the stuff on his shoulders, cheeks, nose, arms, and pretty much everything else that was exposed. Throwing the tube into his bag along with his sweater and shirt, Zack sighed and stood. Should he put more distance between him and Engima? No, she'd tell him to go on. She's strong. Zack allowed himself a brief thought of her before continuing, threading his machete in his belt.
As his feet slid on the smooth, small rocks that blanketed the ground, Zack couldn't help but wonder why the Capitol had put them in clothes like these. Pants? His legs were soaked in sweat, not to mention every other part of him. Zack cursed himself, what would Enigma do when she found him, sweat combined with sunscreen layering his skin. Not to mention the smell he was radiating.
Zack had enough, he stopped again and didn't even search for a large boulder to sit on, just collapsed on the bed of sharp, tiny rocks. He'd sleep here, wait for Enigma here... live here. He survived the Bloodbath, a thought that just now hit him. He prevented death for just a little while longer, and even if this little amount of time he was able to win over meant he could see Enigma again, well that was enough for him. He'd never tell her that though.
