Melody Murrell, District Eleven

Melody is a shorter height for her age, around 4'5, and has long, then legs. Her eyes are a brownish shade, which she hates. She wishes she could have been blessed with green or blue eyes, and instead she got plain brown. Her parents tell her she's beautiful, but sometimes Melody doesn't believe it. She used to think she was perfect until she turned eleven, when other kids started calling her"Freckle Face." Melody has freckles all over her face. She wishes she didn't have them, and is embarrassed.

Another thing that the kids mock Melody for is her hands, which are larger than "the average bear's" her Father joking tells her. This just makes Melody even more upset about her appearance. She still thinks she's pretty, but isn't sure she's perfect anymore.

Melody's bright red hair is long and wavy. She takes care of her hair, convinced her hair and her figure are the last great things about her. She's not anorexic. She's just got a low self esteem issue.

Melody's left arm has a scar running from her elbow to about three inches above her wrist. She tries to hide it by smothering berry juice all over it, but her Mother always catches her and makes her wash it off.

Melody is very "peppy" some might call it, and hyper. She is the glass half full type, happy go lucky, and almost ignorant. A little bit too happy for her own good, yes. She doesn't really catch on to the negatives in the world that she needs to to save her life.

She has a low self esteem issue. Ever since she started getting mocked for her physical flaws by the other children, her self esteem went dangerously low. She grew shyer. Melody began to focus more on working, harvesting crops. She loved to harvest the berries and fruits from the trees.

Even though she's shyer and her self esteem is lower, she's still the same happy go lucky person she used to be. She still has the small ring of friends that she used to, and now sings a lot in her spare time. She wants to live up to her name as "Melody." She likes to write songs too about her ordeals in life, even though she thinks she's a bad singer and never sings.

Melody has lost people though. Whenever she sees someone her age, a girl, playing with their younger brother, she tears up and runs away. She's deeply scarred by what happened to her Brother, and misses him.

Melody is an only child today, but wasn't always. She was born to an older couple. People said she wouldn't survive. Her parents were simply too old. Melody beat the odds, and was born healthy, and survived.

When she was seven, her parents had another baby, a boy. The people once again said that they were too old to give birth to a healthy child. He seemed healthy at first. As he neared his fourth birthday his health suddenly declined, and he died suddenly and without warning. Later, doctors discovered her was born with a brain tumor. Melody had been very close to her brother before death came knocking. She was shattered by his death.

A few years after the death of her Brother, Melody, still upset, started getting bullied by those girls about her freckles and large hands. This only made her feel worse. Her few friends tried to comfort her, but they never seemed to be able to keep her happy or a little bit pleasured for a long period of time.

Slowly, Melody started growing back to her old self. She's still not back to normal, but is steadily getting there now.

Melody got the scar on her left arm from an accident in the fields when she was twelve. She was in a tree picking apples when a bird fluttered from a branch above her, starling her, and she fell out of the tree. She had a long and painful gash on her arm, and internally her arm had a minor fracture.

She will be my last character introduced for a while. Well, I plan to introduce a male character soon.
