Lysina Skidlily District 8

She’s an average height of about 5’ 7”. She’s slim but not terribly skinny and tan. She has long dirty blonde hair that goes to the bottoms of her shoulder blades. She frequently pulls it back into a loose bun. She has brown eyes and a big nose. She’s not chesty at all and doesn’t have very much muscle because she works in a textile mill all day, sewing. She has short stubby little fingers that frequently get in the way of her sewing, so she has scars on her fingertips from the needles.
She has some faint scars on her back from whippings. Her worst scar however is one that trails from her left shoulder and snakes down across her back ending at the small of her back just above her pants line.

She tries to be friendly, but is known to snap at people when agitated even slightly. Except for when she’s speaking to a Peacekeeper, whereas she is better known to be very timid and keeps her eyes downcast. She had a problem with authority and voices it only when she is alone in her bedroom at night.
She’s smart, though, and sometimes voices ideas for better production in her mill. However, she is frequently dismissed or scoffed at. Because of this she doesn’t have very much self confidence. She does, however, love to laugh and if someone can get her laughing she will frequently do what she can to help them out.
She has a hard time standing by and watching when someone else is punished and will either take the blame for it, or leave as soon as possible. Her protectiveness of the younger children gets her into a lot of trouble and rarely ever actually helps the situation that much.

Her mother, Gallena, is very stern and watches over not just her own daughter, but all of the children. She keeps them in line to keep the Peacekeepers from coming after them. This is most likely a result of what happened to her own daughter.
When Lysina was 9 she was playing a game with the other children despite her mother warning her not to. As she was running, she ran into a Peacekeeper who made it very clear that the games were not allowed and decided to use Lysina to set an example. He hitched her to a whipping post and gave a few lighter whips as he explained that games would not be tolerated. As a final warning he brought the whip down so harshly that it opened the skin nearly down to the bone.
Ever since then, Lysina has been terrified of Peacekeepers, but because of what happened to her, she also tries to protect the younger children as much as possible.
