Zuka was suddenly jerked out of her sleep by the anthem, the arena seeming to burst into color before her eyes. "Damn it" she hissed loudly, not bothering to sit up to get a better view. Of course, they would choose the one moment that she had finally fallen asleep to play the anthem. Yes, it did come on at the same time each night, but that thought didn't occur in the stubborn mind of Zuka.
The faces of the dead tributes appeared in the sky. Five had died... in one day. Even to Zuka, that seemed like a lot, far more than needed. Those faces would never see their district again, except lifeless in a old wooden coffin. They would never grow any older to see what they had missed out on, all because of the Capitol. It wasn't the tribute's faults here, for they were just the puppets of the Gamemakers..:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:
Zuka walked slowly behind Nadene, clutching her stomach with a wide scowl on her face. Instead of the usual tan glint that she had, her face was a sickly pale, almost green. Throwing up was a frequent part of the night, and horrible cramps and stomach pains. All because of the stupid unboiled water. The stupid voices.Hey hey hey! Don't blame drinking the water on me! I only said you never took risks anymore and you should drink the wat- well nevermind that. There is one good thing though, you're learning to listen to me now.
Zuka clenched her teeth together, not even responding to them this time. Lately she had been focusing on shutting them out, for they were beginning to become immesnely annoying. She would have liked to blame her killing on them, but she knew better than that. It wasn't the voices who were forcing her to kill, it was herself. She was the only one to blame.
She glanced around wearily, groaning when she realized they were back at the Geyser. Zuka hadn't even payed attention to where they had been going, for she was focusing on shutting out the frequent voices and the pain. She didn't know why, but they Geyser wasn't her favorite place to be, it just seemed so boring and dull. And the water... "crappy water" Zuka murmered under her breath, throwing her satchel onto the ground.
Zuka glared at the back of Nadene's head, for some peculiar reason her anger, grief, and frustration beginning to be directed towards her ally. She scowled, sitting down on top of her bag without a word to the girl. Her head fell on top of her bunched up knees, the kargo pants not helping to absorb the sweat that dripped down.
It seemed that the Gamemakers did their best to make sure the tributes were as uncomfortable as possible, giving them the complete opposite type of clothing than what they needed. Her purple sweatshirt was stuffed in her satchel, but it didn't help much to take away the sweldering heat.
Zuka focused on her own pain, not bothering to check if anyone was coming, though her switchblade was tucked in her belt. The handle was facing up, so she could grab it easily if any danger would come. Danger could be lurking behind every rock, mutts, tributes, anything.
